|
|
Good day to all,
I'm new to Jamstix, I'm using free license of release 4 just to understand if I'm able to use it, so it's worth to pay for the standard version.
I have a couple of questions:
in the build section I added parts to my song structure and:
1. first thing that comes to my eye is that INTRO (I) part is totally blank, with no drums in it. is that normal?
2. I played the part and it's fine, since I have the free version I just arm the track in my DAW (Cakewalk) and record it. And it is perfect.
But when I export the audio, the parts in Jamstix GUI become red (see picture below) and then they are not exported into the audio file.
what I'm missing?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. The Intro Song Part type by default is just basically a count in using the Sidestick sound and a short transition fill. If I want a busy intro part I usually just use a 1 bar Drum Solo song part instead. You don't have to use an "Intro" song part.
The picture link isn't working for me.
EDIT It's working now. The Song Parts are Red because they are linked. Song Parts that are linked will be identical. If you do not want this you can use Song Menu>Global Actions>Unlink All Parts. You can also uncheck the "Link Like Parts" checkbox in the Build window when building your song. |

| thanks for your answer, but why does Jamstix work when I export the audio and it is sort like it's rebuilding the track, since the final result in the mp3 file is different from the part recorderd on the DAW? |

| I don't understand what you mean by "export the audio". You can export midi from Jamstix but not audio. |

I have the free version, that doesn't allow me to export.
so I arm the drum track in my DAW and I record Jamstix playing the part.
When I listen to the recorded part in my DAW it is perfect, when I export the audio clip (from my DAW) the Jamstix part is all messed up |

| Sorry I forgot you were using the free version. So you record Jamstix' audio output into your DAW and it is fine but when you export the recorded audio from your DAW to something else it is not the same? Am I understanding you correctly? |

Yes sir, you got it correctly.
Moreover, leaving Jamstix GUI open during the audio exporting process, I've noticed that Jamstix runs some operations |

| What DAW is this with? Try Song menu>Global Actions>Lock All Parts before exporting your audio and see if that helps. I still don't really understand your workflow. |

Thanks Sir,
my DAW is Cakewalk.
As per my workflow: since I have the free version, I can not export the midi track or parts so:
1. I create a MIDI track to my project and then assign Jamstix to it
2. I go to Jamstix and on the BUILD section I create a structure for the song then i hit "compose"
3. I arm che Jamstix track on my DAW and then I hit record button. Then Jamstix begin to play the drums while the other parts of the song i recorded with guitar and bass plays in the DAW during the record session.
4. I hit STOP once everything is done.
from this moment on, if I play the project within my DAW everything is fine and every part from Jamstix is perfect.
But if I export the project to an audio file, the Jamstix part is sort of recomposed and all messed up.
I hope to have been more clear now sir. |

I'm not familiar with Cakewalk, so I can't offer much advice there. If everything plays correctly within Cakewalk after recording your drum track, Jamstix should no longer be involved at that point.
I would try 2 things:
1) Song menu>Global Actions>Lock All Parts.
2) Bypass (disable, not sure what Cakewalk calls it?) Jamstix on your track before "exporting" your audio. |
