You need to enable midi out in the Jamstix settings.
RTFM
Ableton Live is pretty logical. You can direct midi from one track to another or you can set the other track to receive midi from another track. Either way works, but you need to enable midi out on Jamstix, as well as make sure your Kontakt instrument is also receiving.
You can also check with the inbuilt Max4Live midi message display devices o see things are being output input.

| Just fixed it. FYI, I had midi out enabled in Jamstix settings. The issue wasn't in the manual, but thanks for your original non-snarky post. |

Jamstix manual only covers Jamstix and minimal DAW integration, but what you're asking is a pretty common use case between any VST's that generate midi and accept it.
And I wasn't being snarky. I always RTFM, you'd be surprised how many people don't. Good technical documentation takes a lot of effort, and both Jamstix and Live have good docs. |

| Looks like the AU has all the options for MIDI out - does it support MIDI out? I can't route the MIDI from Jamstix to another track in Live. |

If you mean AU on macOS, per Apple it still does not support proper MIDI output for instruments. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I can't get Ableton Live to find the Jamstix VST? FL Studio finds it no problem. The VST's in the same directory as where I dropped JS AL finds, so what might be the cause of this? Thanks! |

Do you have both, 32-bit and 64-bit Jamstix installed? You can verify this in the 'Install Options' of the JS4 manager tool. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi,
Does anybody here have an Ableton Live drum rack where the pads/notes have been defined with names that match the Jamstix default sound layout?
It would be so nice to be able to drag the Jamstix song MIDI into an Ableton track and see each row of drum hits be properly labeled instead of just looking like a piano keyboard.
Of course it's possible to just drag into an arbitrary drum rack and see the labels of that rack, but some of the labels will be wrong in general as Jamstix has it's own default pad/note layout which the Ableton racks are not natively aware of.
I'm just starting up with Live 11 and I think the combination of Live 11 and Jamstix is going to be quite fulfilling! |
