How can I increase the MIDI sensitivity for live jamming?

At the moment the transition from soft to loud takes a bar or two to register, and of course vice versa.

Can you explain more thoroughly what you are doing?

I have a midi keyboard playing other VST's and I have the MIDI channel set in Jamstix (I think I did it in the correct area), must be correct as I see the power level going up and down the harder or softer I play the keys.

So, I have it set to MIDI Jam, and when I either play harder of softer, the power changes however it is not immediate, it seems to take a couple of bars to "change-down/change-up" to either a more empty pattern or to a busier louder pattern.

Was just wondering if there is some way to speed this "power recognition" up?

Have you checked out the Midi Jam section 13.2 on page 25 of the Jamstix Users Manual? I would suggest seeing if by tweaking the input velocity map if you can find a happy medium.

One other thing I would suggest trying if your keyboard has audio output is to set Jamstix to Audio Jam mode and use the Audio M8 plugin to drive Jamstix. There are Audio power Rise/Fall delay adjustments in Jamming Options window.

Thanks - yes I read that section and tried to apply techniques but with no discernible improvement.

Maybe audio jam might work better. It is a controller keyboard so no audio. Not sure where I'll tap the audio from

If your other VSTis are responding volume-wise in a manner that you think is responsive enough, couldn't you just create a send from the track with that VSTi to the track containing AudioM8 and Jamstix? That would be the first thing I tried.

Audio M8 is the plugin that is used for Audio Jam mode. It translates the incoming audio signal power level to a control signal for Jamstix. Put it before Jamstix, on the same track.

Ok, tried that however the max I can get the power to is about 19% - do I need to edit the Audiom8 plugin itself?

Is that even with the Audio Trim turned all the way up in Jamming Options? There is no adjustment for the AudioM8 plugin.

Ok, seems in Cantabile (the host app) I cannot send from Audio M8 to JS. I CAN send from Jamstix to audiom8, but for this that will not work as a jamming tool.

I can send from a plugin (a piano one in this case) to Audiom8 that is fine, but as there is no audio in to JS from Audio M8 that doesn't work.
