|
|
I have Jamstix studio on Windows 10 in Reaper
I'm trying to record the MIDI out from Jamstix to a new track in Reaper. The recorded file is empty with no MIDI data at all.
This is what I did:
1. In Jamstix options, 'MIDI out' is selected.
2. Created a new 'destination' track.
3. On the destination track, I selected 'Record output MIDI'.
4. I armed the destination track to record.
5. Created a 'send' from the 'Jamstix' track to the new destination track.
6. Checked the destination track meter is responding.
7. Clicked 'Record' on Reaper's transport.
8. An empty file is recorded on the destination track.
I've done this loads of times with other instruments including 'RealGuitar' but I'm missing something here.
I searched through the Jamstix manual, tried searching online and asked in the Reaper forums without success.
I'd appreciate any help with this.
Thanks. |

| In the Kit or Mixer window in Jamstix, in the "Kit" dropdown menu is "No MIDI Output For Internal Sounds" checked? |

Thanks for replying Azimuth.
That option, "No MIDI Output For Internal Sounds" was not checked.
I've tried that option both checked and unchecked but still no MIDI data is recorded to the track. Just the blank track is still being recorded.
I should confirm that Jamstix plays perfectly in the mix and when trying to record the MIDI, the meter on the destination track is responding. |

Am I understanding your setup correctly that you are sending to a different track other than the track Jamstix is on? If so, why aren't you just recording on the track containing Jamstix?
If you have to use a send are you sure it is Post FX and that you have MIDI enabled in the Reaper send/receive pair? |

Thanks for your reply Azimuth.
I'm pleased to say I found what it is.
Earlier I'd been trying Jamstix through EZDrummer 2 and I had this open on an FZ slot next to Jamstix. When I removed this instance of EZDrummer leaving just Jamstix alone on the track, everything worked beautifully.
Your help is much appreciated. |
