hello good people of jamstix-land!
how can i make jamstix plays gamelan?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGCSrC8RN6c
i have a few midi files of indonesian gamelan groove in my computer. how can i make jamstix learns from this files and plays it on gamelan vsti (using midi out). i have some gamelan soundfonts by the way and planning to route midi output from jamstix to soundfont player
PS: since this kind of instrument is arranged in particular order (say, lower pitch on left, higher pitch on right, like a piano or xylophone) unlike drums and other percussion, how can i make jamstix know the gamelan is arranged this way? gamelan is also played using only hands and not using feet |

Hi kurov_ru,
Welcome to the forum. Jamstix can't "learn" anything from a midi file. You'll have to create a mapping file to match whatever format the midi files are in if they're not GM. Easiest way to get Jamstix to play the midi files would be to use the Import style and load them into the Groove Importer. You'll also have to map Jamstix' midi out put to match up with the vsti you're driving if it's not GM.
Regardless, Jamstix is not going to consider the pitch of the instrument while composing. |
