Hello,

I replace the drums in a song with the drumpak 1 sounds.
Everything i can set right in the mix except the kick drum, it sounds muddy ( no chance with eq) .
Why do you set a highcut at 3Khz for the kick ?
I (we) need the frequencys above 3KHz up to 8Khz for the right
drum attack.
It is possible to get the kickdrum sounds for drumpak1 without highcut ?

There is no HPF on the kick in DrumPak #1. There is a slight low shelf boost for the ambience samples to match the close mic signal better but that's it.

The trick is sustain and pitch. We've set this up deliberately so you can get boomy kick as well as tighter kick sounds out of the same samples.

Please slide the sustain of the kick left until the sound gets as tight as you need it. You may also want to experiment with the pitch as it can help define the required frequencies for your mix.

Let me know if you need an example.

OK, i understand.

I have turned the ambience of the kick from 10 to 35 %.
Now i have the right frequencies to sit in the mix.

I prefer sounds with less ambience but it's a compromise and i can
live with that

Did you also try the sustain slider? It really makes a lot of difference.

Furthermore, we will release DrumPak #2 later this year, which will offer close-stereo miking without ambience in addition to the traditional close-mono/stereo-ambience playback of Jamstix.
