Hi,

Is it possible for the user to create/save/load their own song structure presets?

Also, I note that (as of JS 4.4.6) that when a song is saved and reloaded the song structure that the user originally created in the 'Your Song Structure' box does not reappear.

Is there a way to transfer the structure of a loaded song back to the 'Your Song Structure' box for further editing?

Hi,

By investigating, I see that the structures.ini file in the C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\data directory (in Windows) holds song structure definitions, is human readable, and can be edited with a text editor. All good!

Any change in definitions will be seen on the next click of the Presets button. Bravo!

This information needs to be added to the manual.

I still haven't found a way to get the structure out of a saved/reloaded Song and back into a Preset other than rewriting from scratch.

Maybe a 'Save Song as Preset' item could be added to the Song menu.

Of course, if I'm missing the trick, please advise. Thanks, and best Holiday Wishes!

Hi Steve,
I see you already discovered the Structures.ini file. If you load an existing song, all of the song parts appear in order and are available in the small window below the Available Parts list in the Song Builder. Just double click or drag them to the "Your Song Structure" window.

Ah, I see where you mean now.

It would be a nice-to-have to be able to multi-select and drag there, but even as-is, it's pretty quick to remake the YSS.

Thanks very much!

FWIW, it would be great timesaver if one or both of [My Song] or 'Your Song Structure' had a right-click option to 'Save Structure as Preset'.

The effect of this would of course be to collate the representative letters (IVPCBXMDSQLET) and write them to a new line in the structures.ini file.

BTW, will there ever be a Jamstix 4.4.7?

Eventually it will happen. This is the way it goes in the world of Jamstix.
