I'd ask at the Reaper forums but I have to wait for admin or mod to activate my account before I can post there.
Is there a key command to toggle the metronome?
How do I prevent Reaper from opening my last project when I run it? |

There is no default hotkey for toggling the Metronome. You have to add one in the Action list. (Default shortcut =?) Search for "metronome" and assign a hotkey or combo.

Options>Preferences>General>Startup settings>Open project(s) on startup: Change it to something other than "Last active project" in the dropdown. |

Thank you.
I have never encountered an application with so many options. It's a bit overwhelming.
Heh. They activated my account just now.
Edit: Oh Wow! I failed to notice the "Find" utility on the preferences sheet. That might come in handy.

| Reaper is insanely flexible. That's one of the things I really like about it but I agree it can be overwhelming. When you have to write notes to remind yourself of all the hotkeys you've set up, that's when I shake my head sometimes. |

| Wait... someone going on another product's forum to ask about how to use Reaper? Did that just happen? |

I use Reaper. When I want to accomplish something there are usually multiple videos about it on YouTube and several prominent blogs dedicated to learning the product. (Kenny Gioia at ReaperMaina and Jon at the ReaperBlog)
Sometimes I find better point solutions just from users. An example, I pasted in an audio scratch track of a singer songwriter playing guitar and singing that we wanted to build into a song. The task was to make adjustment to the tempo every time it changed in the scratch track. Kenny had a very complicated solution I could hardly follow. Then I found a Norwegian guy on YouTube (Crashwaggon) who had a way more simple and quick way to do it using SWS extensions (just a download you install) and a couple of hotkeys mapped. |

Seems to be standard practice with actual musicians, these days.
Too many wannabe professors arguing the toss about sample rates and computer programmers doing 'music by numbers' over there.
You're the Strat player with the JMP1, IIRC?
I don't dip in so often, don't see many names I recognise, anymore. |
