Listening to some Led Zep in the car on the way home tonight I was struck again by some amazing drum sounds.
1. There are some polls up on the forum mooting different drumpacks - whay kind of kit would be closest/tweakable to the John Bonham sound?
2. Is there a way to force use of the ride bell in an arrangement?

If we get to do a Vistalite DrumPak, that would get you the closest.

The ride bell is used when ride quarter notes are played at full velocity. If funkiness is high enough this switches from the quarters to funkier positions. If you want the bell at all times, go to the mapping tab and select the bell sound in the standard ride slot as well. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Is there a way to do this during a jam? Especially during power play? |

What exactly do you want to control on the bell side during the jam? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Could Jamstix do something like this groove by Neil Peart (Rush -- Counterparts -- Animate) coming out of a fill? I really think it's cool when drummers go to the ride cymbal bell after a fill going into a bridge. Or sometimes a quarter note pulse on the bell with some funky kick and snare work.
However, I don't always want the cymbal bell; just every now and then. This is why I don't map the bell to the ride cymbal. I hope this gives an idea of what I'm looking for.
Off topic; here is a really cool animation of Peart playing YYZ I found while looking for some bell cymbal MP3s. |

That's a brilliant animation! By concentrating on the drummer it makes you realise how much a good drummer "plays" the song like any other instrument. |

I've done some work with computer animation (hobby only) and unles you've tried it you will never realize how difficult it can be to set seomthing like this up. _________________ darcyb62 |
