|
|
Hi,
I work with XO to manage my single-shot drum samples, and I would be eager to have JamStix and XO be well integrated so either could drive the other (or either's exported MIDI could drive the other).
Observing the JamStix MIDI Input maps here:
C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\data\midimaps\Input
and MIDI Output maps here:
C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\data\midimaps (and subdirs)
I see a large number of pre-made maps. Super!
It is unclear to me if I can (or cannot) create my own maps (e.g. for XO), put them in the same places, and have them work.
Can I?
If not, could Rayzoon perhaps add that flexibility?
Alternatively (and less flexibly), could Rayzoon create input/output maps for XO? (I can provide info if you like.)
Please advise. Thanks!

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
Respectfully, I've described above exactly what I am interested in here - (new) MIDI In/Out maps at the global map level (not the kit level).
Surely I'm not the first (or last) to have an interest in this.
Is there some reason this cannot be addressed directly?
If it is not possible now (which is implied elsewhere, but I still have a smidgen of doubt ...) the question becomes "How about the future?".
I'll add that someone else has recently put me on to NoteMapper ( https://www.codefn42.com/notemapper/index.html ), which I'm evaluating for the purpose now.
I'm relatively new to Jamstix, and very impressed so far.
As I often do, I'm sharing my "this (problem or wish) hit me almost immediately" early impressions! |

| The thread I linked is describing how to create a Jamstix midi map exactly the same as the "pre-made" maps you refer to. Just use the same structure as the existing 3rd party maps in the Input and Output folders. |

Hi. I tried exactly that, creating my own new map in the same directory as the factory maps. However, my new map was not recognized (offered as a choice) after I restarted the program.
Perhaps I did it wrong, or missed a step? Is there a "maps to load/offer" list somewhere which needs to be updated as well as having the new map present in the directory?
What makes Jamstix "see" that a new map has been created by the user? |

The only things that should be necessary are:
1) That your map is placed in the correct folder "C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\data\midimaps\Input" for Input maps, "C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\data\midimaps" for Output on Windows.
2) The [Drum Kit] header section contained in the mapping file is where Jamstix determines what shows in the Input or Output map menus. |

Thank you very much, that got me sorted out!
I had assumed the filename would be the UI display name and had neglected to edit the ShortName, LongName, and InputName components of the [Drum Kit] section inside the map file. |
