Anyone using REAPER 6 with a high DPI environment: if the Jamstix GUI shows up too small, add this line to the file C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\jamstix4.ini:

I would like to ask you for help with Reaper6+Jamstix4+SSD5 combination.
There is probably something wrong in my setup.
I have created one track with Jamstix (added as FX) and have added one simple track with SSD5 as virtual instrument. (don't want to have separate tracks for snare, kick, cymbals, ...)
I thought that if I disable audio in "Send to track" and "Master send" on Jamstix track I hear drums sound only SSD5 sampler (track).
But that's not true, I still hear also sound from Jamstix kit. There is a workaround there: Set volume slider on Jamstix track to zero. I can live with that and just want to know if my setup is really correct or I miss something.
Thank you for your advice. |

Hi filo_01,
In the Kit window right click the kit and choose "Set All To Midi Output Only". That will mute all internal Jamstix sounds. |

Thank you a_zimuth!
It works but I have found another strange thing so please let me ask you again. When I'm clicking to snare drum the sounds from Jamstix and SSD are different. And they are different even in case when "rimshot" is set in both windows. How it is possible if the Jamstix is serve just as MIDI source?
The sound of all other pieces (kick, cymbals)are +/- equal. |

| It depends upon what you mean by "different". Maybe the velocity responses are not matched or if the sample played back is different it is a mapping issue between Jamstix and SSD. Since the other kit pieces are working properly, I would guess it's probably a Snare mapping issue, but hard to say definitely without being there and hearing what is going on. |

Hi filo,
Sorry for the slow reply, I'm really busy. I downloaded your example and tried it with Jamstix and SD2 and the result is the same. It looks to me as if Jamstix and whatever VSTi that is used respond to mouse clicks with different velocities. I recorded separate midi tracks of both VSTi and the recorded midi velocity was 100 from both Jamstix and SD2 on every Snare hit. I then recorded separate audio tracks from both and the audio level was very different between them. I didn't have time to check the actual level difference. So it has to be some sort of internal velocity response. |

| Hi a_zimuth, thank you for your findings and explanation. So it is a feature, not a bug. |

Changed options in Reaper to actually see path to VSTs. One of them is programfiles/steinberg/vstplugins folder. In Reaper, there is only one VST there, iZotope Trash 2.dll. However, looking at the folder itself reveals this also is where jamstix4.dll (and audiom8.dll) reside. Just cant see either in Reaper.
Is there a trick I'm not catching here? |
I have the problem, quite the same.
Installation seems okay.
AudioM8 and Jamstix dll are appearing in the folder that is being scanned by Reaper. But Reaper only recognizes AudioM8
On Scan Options, Reaper shows under rescan:
"Plugins that failed to scan" - here Jamstix is listed. When i click on it,
Reaper scans is again. But no result. Still not showing in the vst list.
I have the 64 bit version installed.
Thanks for any advice.
Stefan
Edit: Now, after several rescanning, Reaper list Jamstix dll and shows the following error message:
"error: could not load engine (C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4)
conatact support @rayzoon.com for further assistance"
The ProgramData Folder is filled with following directories:
bin
data
installer
logs
revisions
and jamstix configurationsettings file |

| Did you unintentionally install both the 32 & 64 bit versions to the same plugin folder? |

No. Only the 64 bit version. |

| Use the Email Support function in the Manager app to send an email and attach your log files. Ralph is working on a planned December update presently so a reply might be slower than usual. Have you tried running Reaper with administrator rights? |

| Has anyone else encountered an issue where you tweak some parameter while the current part is changing (as in you're holding mouse click while the part changes) and this resulting in losing control over Jamstix and Reaper for a few seconds? I think minimizing and returning might fix it (not 100% sure) but it could also be that since it starts responding again after a few seconds it could also be that. It's an annoying thing that occasionally happens to me, but not that often and not debilitating, just annoying. I was just wondering if there's something I could do about it? |

Do you have "Composition Multi-Threading" enabled under General Options? |

Yeah, I do. Would disabling this fix the issue?
Another minor question, I've noticed that if I load a project with Jamstix on it and recompose/change some things, Reaper doesn't show that anything has been changed and doesn't prompt me on exit to save. It's not an issue at all because I save manually all the time, but I'm just curious about this. I assume the changes don't get saved if I don't save? Maybe Reaper only knows that something saveworthy has changed if something in a plugin is changed that shows up on the envelopes? I guess what I'm asking if this is something that the VST reports to the host somehow or if it's just intended behaviour. Whichever it is it is very minor, like I said.
Funnily enough, if I close the Jamstix window that counts as a modification apparently, although arguably it's a smaller issue. |
