I have a pattern with hi hats on every beat, which I'm using as the basis for a song. Everything that Jamstix generates turns the hats into a total wash
of open hats
. I've tried many combinations of Styles and Drummers, turned off/disabled Fill and Groove elements, but I still get a wash of open hats.
The only time I was able to avoid this, the hat arrangement got really sparse, which is what I don't want.
Usually I can get a result I like, even without understanding everything about the various controls, just by messing around. But I just can't seem to
get the hats to behave.
Really, I just want closed hats on each tick box, with an occasional open hat, or an occasional skipped hat. So, where is that one magic button or dial that
I need? I just can't find it.

Jamstix is so awesome, but this one thing is killing me....Help!

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Are you using the internal Jamstix sounds?

Yes, I'm only using Jamstix internal sounds, and not routing to any other instrument.
For the moment, is there any quick way to copy a hat pattern
(or any pattern on a limb) and paste it to all bars across the whole song?

Anyway, thanks for the quick reply. I'll keep tinkering and check back later.

It sounds like a #4 MIDI controller event for hihat pedal pressure is on the MIDI track for JS4 in the DAW. Can you double-check that none exists?

MIDI track was blank (no events at all),
Everything was in Jamstix.

Or so I thought!

Well, I was dragging stuff from Jamstix into an empty track in Studio One.
On the instrument track with Jamstix, the track was set to receive from
"All Inputs". When I changed that to receive from Jamstix, the problem
went away.

So I think that some MIDI CC was getting sent to Jamstix somehow, even
though the track that I was dragging MIDI clips to (from Jamstix) was set to output "NONE".

Thanks so much Ralph for the quick response. I think that the problem is
solved. If I see anyone else who runs in to this, I will point them in the
right direction. I will mark this as "Solved" after I do some more work.

Did some more stuff in Jamstix, and everything is working correctly.
So indeed, I was unintentionally sending MIDI to Jamstix from another
track. I'm super glad that it was just a goof by me.

Thanks again for the pointer Ralph !

Sir_Plus I had something like this happen to me about a month ago!! I came here and described my problem looking for an answer. After posting here I kept asking myself, where is that info coming from!? Turns out I had exported the JS4 midi out to a trk in my DAW, and sure enough it was getting sent to JS4!!

And like you, I'm no noobie to JS4, not an expert either. But I went round and round and.... chasing my own tail and didn't even know it!!

Yeah- It was an all-day thing for me. That one little thing that shouldn't
have been hard, but I got tunnel vision.
Then I came across another curve-ball (this one I figured out much quicker):
I was dragging loops from Jamstix into an empty track. The idea was make
whole bunch of different loops, and play around with the arrangement. But I had Jamstix
set to export using the EZ Drummer midi map. So when I used the experimental
track to trigger Jamstix, it sounded different.
This time, it only took 5 minutes to figure it out. So, I'm getting better!
(I think....)
