When I try to import a 2 bar midi pattern into Jamstix, only 1 bar gets imported. Is that a limitation,
or is there something I'm missing?
* Drag and drop would be awesome. Any chance it will be possible? |

It is available, you have to drag it into the little space, but it’s there
Also, use “import” with that, and you will have basically endless in/out variations |

| You can actually drag it anywhere in the Brain window and it will add a Groove Importer automatically. |

Thanks guys!
When I first got Jamstix, I thought that dragging a midi file straight in from
a folder was not possible. Just tried it, and it works...awesome!
* A small issue: the hi-hats are getting mapped as toms. I tried changing the
midi input map, but I can't get it quite right. (the loop was from EZ Drummer)
However, it's not a big deal to change the sounds to the correct ones.
And so even though the groove importer doesn't behave exactly as I expected
for importing midi, that is (thankfully) irrelevant now.
Thanks again! |

I was talking about this in another thread, and it’s a little thing that most likely needs manual editing.
Some midi doesn’t translate well or accurately sometimes , and when you gotta dive in there yourself....otherwise there are wrapping options or what not
Other, better members can direct you better from here i would think lol
Good luck and report any tips u find along the way please, as i can use some too |

I took a look at the original midi sequence from EZ Drummer, and found that the hats were on the E-2 key. So, no wonder they didn't translate!
The hats also play (in EZ Drummer) on D3 or E3 (Tight Edge and Closed Edge hats, which sound very similar). So, this was not a Jamstix thing.
I think the "extra" mapping in EZ Drummer (hats on E-2) is called an "alias".
I'm not sure about that, or what it's there for, but I'll be sure not to use it.
Mystery solved! A definite "Ahhhhhh" moment. |

| Yes, I aslo found EZ2 had some hi-hat notes almost off the grid so to say. They weren't around all the other hi-hat hits, so it made me wonder why they would do that. And yep, that's what they are alias's! Alternate hits. |
