Excellent programme that has become my favourite drum module, thank you thank you Rayzoon.

On Catalina 10.15.2 and Cubase 10.5.5 with the latest elicenser. Jamstix 4 beta has become inconsistent in terms of showing its interface - sometimes it does, sometimes it remains black saying 'Jamstix is loading'. I don't know if this is connected, but my MacBook Pro gets hot and the fans kick in - nothing playing just one track of Jamstix 4.0 beta.
Steve.
EDIT: 26th January: Jamstix will no longer open on Catalina running Cubase 10.55. |

| I've seen quite a few posts on different forums about Cubase issues recently - no issues in Live or Logic for me, so I think it's likely to be Cubase related. |

That's what I've assumed - either a Cubase change or a change through the Catalina updates. Unfortunately Jamstix 4 will not work on my Logic Pro X installation or my Cubase installation. I get a message saying it cannot sync with core. I've deleted and reinstalled quite a few times. Seems I'll have to continue to do without Jamstix.

Not sure it's Catalina related unless Cubase has some 32-bit components that are screwing things up. I've been through 3 MacOS updates on my MacBook to get to Catalina and it hasn't messed with Jamstix, Live, Logic or anything else music related (other than the KORG Collection standalones that they haven't bothered to update yet). |

I think I may have identified the problem. I use an eGPU in a Razer Core X enclosure. When I start Cubase and Jamstix BEFORE starting the eGPU, Jamstix seems to work. I can then turn on the eGPU and external monitors and Jamstix keeps on working. Tried this last night, so far so good, but I'll wait and see.

Now that Jamstix 4 is at least capable of opening and running on my machine, there's something else that is a major issue. When it opens, it seems to open two sessions of the audio plugin server. This seems to result in Jamstix taking a lot of cpu time and heating up my laptop. When I double click on each of the audio plugin Service ers, one of them closes. Jamstix 4 keeps on working, and the load on my machine drops spectacularly.

And just to continue my ramblings into the void ( ) a couple of other observations:
1) Jamstix does keep working with the eGPU switched on.
2) When I open the Jamstix window in Cubase, I am no longer able to move it, just open it and close it. No big deal, just an observation.
3) When the Jamstix window is open, Jamstix uses approximately three times the cpu power I=compared to when the window is closed.
4) When I close Cubase, Jamstix' audio plugin server remains open and I need to close it as a separate process.

Updated using Jamstix Manager and now Jamstix will no longer open in Live or Logic on most recent Catalina. No problems before the update at all.
I first get "The application can't be opened" with "-50" below it, then another window with "Cannot sync with Core (LE:0)" |

What did you update? Jamstix? Or Catalina?

Those are the same error messages I received - which seem to have gone away since the Cubase 10.5.12 hotfix. I even got Jamstix to open after starting my eGPU. Wierd.
Anything else changed on your system?

I updated Jamstix, not MacOS. There MAY have been an OS update between last using Jamstix and this time, but it didn't affect any other AU plugins.
Nothing else changed on my system that I can recall. The only change was to update Jamstix.
I also don't use Cubase, so it's not that - whether I use Logic or Ableton Live I get the problem.
Also, I just realized that I'm now getting an issue where if I click on the plugin window in either DAW it goes black, and if I click a second time the window contents appear again... |

In the course of this 'adventure' with Jamstix 4.4.3 I've been keeping the macOs activity monitor open. There's a system application called 'WindowServer' that has at different times been the biggest cpu hog while running Jamstix. I read somewhere on this forum Ray saying that macOs window handing was a bit of a challenge. My experience was that Jamstoix would open with a black screen and the WindowHandler cpu usage would climb and climb.
You've probably tried this but I used Jamstix manager to reinstall/repair Jamstix several times.

Good call, but I already did a reinstall, and it doesn't make any difference.
I'm really not sure what's going on, but earlier versions of the beta seemed more usable than the current one... |
