(sorry lots of question - just trying to get into some of the details of jamstix that I haven't bothered to learn so far...)

I can't get drop and drag working into cubase 10.5 (windows). Other software like ezkeys work fine with drag and drop

is this a known limitation ?

Work-around: save the export to file with the button in the drag dialog and then drag the file to the DAW.

thanks Ralph - understood and that works. Just wondered if it was a "known issue" as it seemed odd that other plugs work ?

Not a known issue for it to not trigger at all but even when it works it can crash the DAW for some people so the save work-around is the way to go right now.
