Does Drumpak #1 install and work in addition to the samples that are already in JamStix? or does it over write and work in place of them?

It adds to them so the original sounds continue to work and you can also build kits that mix and match DP1 and default sounds.

When you install DP1 you get 4 new mappings (in addition to the default mapping files) that load DP1 sounds.

Thank you for the info and the prompt reply. That's exactly what I was hoping. Just for the record, I love JamStix. It's SO cool!

Zauni, I was going to ask the same question.

So how would I go about creating a new mapping with a mixture of the new and existing samples? I also have BFD and am also curious to know what the four different mappings available for BFD are, as the descriptions don't say much? I presume they map the Jamstix midi mappings onto the BFD specific ones (i.e. the non GM hits)? How do they control which BFD kit is loaded though?

Many thanks,

You'd load a mapping and then replace sounds in the mapping tab by selecting the desired sound (i.e. Snare) in the sound list and then opening the sample box at the bottom and changing to a different sample.

All DrumPak #1 samples have ' DP1' in their name.

Jamstix mappings for external VSTi contain the settings data for those VSTi much like your sequencer stores that data when you save a song.

The BFD mappings are just kits we like. It's hard to describe them better than that Smile They are starting points for your own mappings, just open the BFD GUI in Jamstix, change things around and then save it as a new mapping.
