Hi everybody,
I already made some tune from scratch in a susal pop/rock style...
but it's days that I'm browsing drummers and styles trying to recreate the latin feeling of this tune :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00D5WL0yWGg

I'm trying to use some latin/brazilian/afro-cuban groove, and Jamstix adds a lot of that flavour, but I'm unable to set a simple groove like that, to build the intro, groove and fills of a simple jazz drumkit.
I thought it was quite simple, as there are only few instruments playing, but it's not... at least for me.
Just the simple intro, with ride on the octaves, rimshot on quarters and little pattern on the bass drum seems quite hard... not even thinking at the moment to the passages in the main chorus...

Any hint/help appreciated...
(if things get too serious I could also think about some reward for mentoring...)

This is the basic beat. About 130 bpm in the beginning, Power Hand set to minimum to keep the right hand on the ride cymbal. Auto Snare active and set to max for the Sidestick. Swing 16ths set to about 35-40%. I don't know what add on paks you have so try the James Stix drummer focused preset to start with. In the Fill window keep the Focus Snare % high & Tom % low and fill lengths pretty short and raise the Snare Double Strokes. You'll have to play around with the fills settings until you find something you're happy with. Hope this helps get you started.

thanks a lot!
Over time I got almost all the paks, so I think I'll be able to follow your hints.
Jamstix is great, and quite easy to let him go. He usually does the right thing Smile
But it's important for me to understand also how to direct Jamstix to particular grooves.
Your hints will be extremely useful in that
Thanks again
Enrico
