Hi folks,
Having seen the excellent price $119 for the ultimate pack ( I take it that includes all addons and expansions) I just wonder what really is the extent of the learning curve to get to grips with Jamstix?
I am used to band in a box and doing the basic stuff in a Daw such as Cubase Sonar, so don't really have lots of time to spend hours on learning a new program.
All advice gratefully appreciated.
many Thanks

A extent of the learning curve really boils down to what type of music you are composing I've found and also realizing the fact that just because there is a control for something doesn't mean it needs to be used all the time, if ever. I've said this before on the forum and still find this to hold true. If you're banging out AC/DC or Rolling Stones type stuff, it's pretty much drag and drop. If you're doing Gentle Giant, Rush or King Crimson type stuff, there is going to be effort involved.
I've been using Jamstix since 2010 virtually every day, sometimes just fooling around, and I still discover new things I was unaware of or much better ways of accomplishing what I'm trying to do. I have also had Jamstix steer songs I was working on that I had a solid version playing in my head in a completely different direction with some of the "ideas" it generated.
I know this has been long winded but I guess I can sum it up with this has been in my opinion the best piece of music software I have ever purchased period. The effort it has taken for me to achieve how I use it has been worth it, no question. |

From my perspective, yes, there is a learning curve. But that should be part of the joy of working with JS. And if you survived BIAB you will find this way more intuitive and way more bug free. There is a decent manual and a number of good video instruction guides to help with the process. Bottom line is you do it for the beats.. |
