Hello!

Stupid question: Does the new Jamstix 4 has a drummer/style to emulate Nick Mason ?

I still use the old "1973 Dark Side" in Groove Agent 1.0 because it's the only good emulation I enjoy playing with.

I also own Jamstxi 3 and EZDrummer 2 but nothing I like... Sad

Any sugestions ?

Have you tried Charlie with the Simplifier set to maximum? Nick Mason's playing is fairly straightforward and shouldn't be that hard to emulate. Do you have any songs in mind that demonstrate what you're looking for?

Hey m_poirier,
It's not a stupid question. I use the same Groove Agent-workaround because I don't get it right in Jamstix.

I'm thinking of songs like the epic Atom Heart Mother or Echoes. Especially during the vocal parts you can hear a lot of snare and an tom-work in Mason-Style. Or something like "Set the Controls for the heart of the Sun".

Thank you for that tip. Will certainly try this combination !

I like all early Pink Floyd songs from Meddles and Dark Side of the Moon...

Thanks again !

Logged on just to say my computer with GA 1 on it died a few years ago - and I loved it for the Nick Mason "Dark Side" ease of use.

It kills me Steinberg won't release a version that works on modern computers, that is still the easiest way to get drums laid out quick. Basic>complex on a dial, hit the button for a fill. Easy.

Frakking frak.

Considering the topic of this thread this free VSTi may interest others if they're not familiar with it: http://alanvista.com/royotoms/

The creator also has some other excellent exotic free instruments on the site also.

Never enough MiniPak!

So it's a psychedelic MiniPak with new drummers Nick and Marshall (Soft Machine), with added Rototoms sounds and "found percussions"?

By “found percussions” do you mean random things, like pots and pans, metal sheets, etc.? Or is it a term I am not familiar with or an inside joke?

Pots & pans and metal sheets are my ideas of "found percussions".

It's also part joke and was a reference to credits on the album My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts by Byrne Eno. The credits read:
Quote:
David Byrne and Brian Eno – guitars, bass guitars, synthesizers, drums, percussion, found objects

There's even a page on wikipedia about "found object"!

Did anyone ever play “The sounds around the house show” with a tape recorder as a kid!?
