hi I currently have jamstix 3 with xl and ai paks I have had a play with js4 and dont like the 2d user interface I much prefer the mixer look in js3
q1 are there any plans to make the user interface skinable or have an option to have buttons and knobs instead of those circular slider things
q2 the 3d drumkit is ok but eye candy (I can take or leave it)
considering the above what would I gain by upgrading apart from the resizable gui which I do like what are the other differences
I have searched but cant find a js3 v js4 comparision
what made you go wow I must upgrade to js4

1) I was of the same mind as you during at the beginning of the private beta phase regarding the 3d kit- nice but gimmicky eye candy I could live without. I quickly came to realize that being able to visually lock in with my "drummer" affected my performance. I'm a "Guitarist" but never realized how much feedback I got from watching the drummer when I'm jamming. I can only imagine how much more true this would be for a Bassist.
2) The improved Eq & Comp, Solo, individual output defeat and overall sound in my opinion alone are worth it.
3) The extended time signature capabilities, up to 9/4 & 18/8.
4) Gavin
5) Better Bar Editor GUI.
6) Much better Song Builder layout and functionality.
7) What can be done with imported midi clips is night and day compared to JS3 with the new Wrapping functionality.
8 ) $49 to upgrade everything you already own = no brainer in my opinion.
Honestly, this is just off the top of my head and being written as a very happy customer, not someone involved as a beta team member or mod. After using JS4, now I can't go back to JS3 comfortably in all honesty.
That's my 2 cents. |

I completely agree. The improvements are more than just aesthetics and very helpful. Also, even the aesthetic improvements, though perhaps not needed by some users, are still pretty great.
Disclaimer though... I am a Jamstix fanboy of about 8 years and might be biased. _________________ Core i7 4712QM, 16GB, Cubase 9 Pro on Windows 10. Scarlett 2i2. M-Audio Axiom Pro 61. Komplete 8. Jamstix 3.6. Absolute 3 VST. 418 Carrier Landings.

| I hope you find JS4 to be as great as I have. I think you will. |

| I can second this. Over time i drifted away from using Jamstix 3 as it was getting way too cumbersome to use. I was on the fence with regards to upgrading for a long time, and finally tried the free version a little while ago. After playing with it for half an hour, i've upgraded to Jamstix 4. I use it much more often than i ever used Jamstix 3. |

All of the above for me. But number 8 is the main one.
Learning more and more how to use this great tool, I am of the opinion that it should cost more. But we are very fortunate that the devs only charge what they do. |
