Just thought you might like to know what a brand new user (I've only had the product for 48 hrs and the demo for about a week) felt like using the product for the first time.
- I initially purchased the product because I thought customising the MIDI Input Mapper was disabled in the demo. I didn't realise it was in an editable file.
- I couldn't find the directory of the installation anywhere until I clicked Help / Manuals and went up a level. I expected to see this directory in the Manager UI somewhere, but I don't think it's referenced.
- I was confused by the MIDI mapping mechanism (assigning keys, input and output mappers), as when I clicked on the Kit and assigned a key mapping for a drum/cymbal, I expected that to apply to the rest of the drum setup (i.e. Input and Output MIDI mappers). I can see the advantages of hand editing the files, but it was very confusing and not intuitive at all.
- I had to edit the SSD5 Input and Output mapper to take advantage of the additional nuances (happy to share that file).
If I am to be honest, I initially had buyer's remorse because I thought the product wasn't going to be able to do what I thought it could do. But after some assistance on the forums, I think I'm ok now. Thanks for what I've see so far in this product! |

Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated!
If you'd like, please send me the SSD5 mapping files you've adjusted so we can review them and see if the changes should be propagated.
Thanks again! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Could I ask you if is there any progress?
I'm almost ready to buy SSD5 in the near future but at first I would like to be sure about 100% compatibility with Jamstix. I'm a less than beginner in drums & MIDI area and don't want to spend days to digging in with unpredicted results. For me it is like an other universe. I'm glad I'm understanding at least basics of Jamstix thanks to this forum and advice here. |

All I can tell you is that we don't have any action items for SSD5 at this time. All works well in our tests. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
