|
Details...
1 bar of 3/4 , 4 reps (intro)
1 bar of 4/4, 1 rep (intro)
4 bars of 4/4, 4 reps (verse)
Didn't go any further b/c of issues
I create my parts by right-clicking in the Song Sheet area. I right-clicked the default verse part and changed its settings to 3/4 and 4 reps. I then import a 3/4 bar MIDI file. It plays fine. So far so good.
Then I right-click that part and do New Part > Create New Part After This Part, and change its settings to 1 bar, 4/4, 1 rep. I see the Bar Editor change and expand out to 4 beats. OK. But when I import my single 4/4 MIDI bar, it populates the Bar Editor as if it's a bar of 3/4. Beat 4 is empty, and it doesn't play back correctly.
I guess I could have stopped there, but I create another new 4/4 part and make it 4 bars long with 4 reps and and import my 4 bar MIDI file for the verse, and the same thing happens. The first 3 beats are fine, but beat 4 is empty, and beat 4 actually populates beat 1 of the next bar, and that bar's beat 1 is now on beat 2.
Odder still (to me anyway, since I don't know what the issue is), if I do everything I described above, but omit creating the opening 3/4 bar and start with the single 4/4 bar (the second half on the intro), and then create the verse bars, all the imports look and play fine. I can even go back to the first part and do New Part > Create New Part BEFORE This Part and add the 3/4 part, and everything looks and plays fine. I did that out of frustration, because typically it would seem normal to work from the beginning of the song to the end, not going back and adding parts before other parts. I thought that functionality was there for instances where people accidentally left out a part and needed to go back and add it later, not as a 'normal' part of song creation.
Thoughts?

| Ok, I've messed with this a bit more. Another odd issue, but I can't replicate it consistently. After I create the first part with the 3/4 time sig, when I create the next part and double-click it to change its settings, sometimes that part will carry over the 3/4 time sig. of the first part and I have to change it to 4/4, and other times it won't. I have the same problems as described above either way, but thought I'd still mention it. |

Still no resolution with this issue. I tried importing 2 bars of 14/8 and more weirdness. "8/8 worth" of the first bar imported into bar 1. "The 6/8 that was remaining" + "the first 2/8 of the second bar" imported into bar 2. So 8/8 worth of material imports into the empty 14/8 bars, but the rest of each bar is empty.
I've uploaded this MIDI file to my Google Drive have posted the link here. Please download it and import it and see if you have the same issues. I've never used Google drive before, so let me know if you have any problems accessing the file.

Please do a 'Save Song As' in Jamstix for the issue in your original post and email it to support@rayzoon.com.

I've researched this and what happens is that after the brain has initialized the importer element for the first time, it will no longer adjust time sigs for it even if they change on the parent part.
This will be fixed in the next update. Work-around for now: reload 'Import' as the style on the part and then select the desired MIDI file for import. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks Ralph.
I'm having an issue even without changing time sigs if I import a MIDI file that starts with a rest. The rest(s) get ignored and beat 1 gets populated with what should occur after the rest. What you see in the pic below on beats 1.1 & 1.3 should be located at beats 4.1 & 4.3. The half & quarter rests at the beginning of the bar were ignored.
Here's a link to the MIDI file:
