I have a feeling this program could make some of those magical "accidental" fills now and then to add to a track, and that is really exciting.

We have those moments a lot in free jam mode, which is why I am so eager to get that going for you.
Let's do this to do a simplified test without BFD (this assumes you downloaded the full 83MB Jamstix demo):
- open new project in Sonar
- add Jamstix as softsynth
- arm Jamstix track (or any other track) for recording
- click Free Jam in Jamstix
- hit RECORD in Sonar
After a few beats, Jamstix shoulds play a pattern. Let me know if this works.

As for recording, I didnt even know that I could do that. So I would just go to bounce in sonar as "what you hear" and it would just do it that way? Niiiiiiiiiice.

Just use File->Export->Audio in Sonar. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

nope..i hear the word jamstix though.
What is wierd, is that this WAS working. I had it messing around before i first posted. I don't know what I could have done to have changed anything. Manual works fine. When the dropout happens, I can't hear the Jamstix voice. The opposite occurs in free jam, it's all i hear, only intermittently though (like it should). |

Can you send us a screenshot of the jam tab, rhythm tab and mappings tab in free mode while playing without sound?
Send them to support@rayzoon.com

| also, when you said you can export and the tracks will be in the audio WAV, is that possible w/ the demo? Just wondering, would love to hear my drum mixes in a car. |

Yes it works in the demo but you'll get the audio drop-outs every 40 to 47 beats with the lady saying 'jamstix'. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

here's an update to the free jam. I loaded Sonar and loaded the project file i had w/ jamstix controlling BFD. I pressed play and the freejam began. Once I pulled up the jamstix menu the sound was gone, not to return. I still heard the "jamstix" voice though. hope that helps.
Now for my noob question of the day. Can you do a quick walk thru of how to export the track so i can hear the beat on a wav? I have jamstix in manual mode playing to a 4 bar loop. I hit the record button and press record, but that doesn't print a wav. I believe you explained that isn't a neccesity anyway. So i went to export and exported "what you hear" as my broadcast wav. anyway, the wav was nothing. So I know im doing something wrong here.
To end on a pro, I love setting up a basic beat with BFD sounds and just making jamstix play totally straight in manual. Then i just tell it to add more cymbals, toms or fills and it does it. It's awesome. all im going to do is tap really simple beats in w/ my oxygen, and once jamstix gets the feels, then have it let go more. I plan to save the straight beat, then adjust sliders for the same beat with more going on and just map in the busier parts when i want them. The singer I write with can't believe this program is real.
Is the 24th still the set date for downloads? I will prepay for it the 23rd when i have my funds. |

If you just want the Jamstix track as a wave, do this:
- add some MIDI event in the Jamstix track at the end, otherwise Sonar won't export because it thinks there is nothing in it. One little note at the end is all it takes.
- click on the Jamstix MIDI track name so the whole thing highlights
- Go File->Export->Audio and save
That's it

Yes, that is still the day for the pre-order releases. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

hey thx for all the solid support and help. I guess I have it figured out like this:
If you track your guitars and vox, keys 1st in Sonar, then add drums, freejam could be a cool way to get your drums.
If you are like me and like to get your drums set first, the way to go would be manual jam and using the mapper for fills and changing up beats.
am i pretty close on this? |

Sounds like a good plan. Stick with it until you get comfortable with Jamstix and then you can try other approaches. There really isn't a right or wrong way of doing this per se. Whatever gets you your results the quickest is the right way, whatever is frustrating or lengthy is the wrong way. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
