So the only option would be running the original jamstix sounds I want to keep in one jamstix, and start a second jamstix with the external sounds,
is this correct? |

What you can do in Cubase is this:
- load Jamstix into the VST rack
- load a sample player or drum module of choice into the VST rack
- add a MIDI track with input=Jamstix and output=2nd VSTi
Now you will hear the Jamstix sounds as well as the sounds of the 2nd VSTi simultaneously. You can then go to the Jamstix mapping tab and select the sounds (snare, crash etc.) that you want the 2nd VSTi to play and set them to 'No Sound' in Jamstix. In the 2nd VSTi you set the sounds that Jamstix should play to zero volume.
Now you have a mix of both sound palettes playing. Since you can save the mapping in Jamstix as a separate file (and likely in the 2nd VSTi, too), you can use this setup quickly in other projects. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Zauni,
would it be possible that you can assign keys and midi channel
to the drums? that way I could use my Gigastudio drums a bit
easier |

You can already assign keys to the sounds in the mapping tab. You can also assign different MIDI channels for groups of sounds (i.e. snare, toms) as described in the jamstix.ini section of the Jamstix manual.
Does that suffice or do you need more functionality? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I haven't look at this thread for a while and only just re-read the last two pages so forgive me if im repeating something thats already been written.
Ive been using jam stix for a couple of months now and I'm realy loving it (god knows i wouldnt have been able to to any realistic soudning drums for my songs without it) The one thing i feel its missing for me is a fills editor and the ability to import drum fills (please correct me if im wrong on this)
I think i read that you can edit fills via text files but this seems like a fair bit of work and too hard for someone with pretty much no realy drumming skills or talent. What i'd like to see is a fill editor looking something along the lines of the rthym tab (although one again im not much a drummer so i dont know how it'd need to be set up)
And the ability to import fills would be realy helpfull especialy when you get the rhythm exchange running
Anyway thats my $0.02
Keep up the good work |

Thanks for your kind words, ColdAsh!
We do have a fill generator in the works for Jamstix 2. It's not so much a drum-by-drum editor as the rhythm tab but more a 'dial-a-fill' kind of thing. We are also working on a MIDI accent (Fills etc.) import function for JS2.
Thanks for your input! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Another improvement may be to have the program adjust velocity from the sliders when using only midi out. Maybe I am missing something but when I use Jamstix as a midi generator into cubase sx and into BFD all the velocities are not randomized but kept at maximum. I really like this program and look forward to the next round of improvements! |

It works fine for me here. I can reduce the velocity slider in Jamstix and the BFD notes are played softer. Do I misunderstand you? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Actually the variable velocity driven by jamstix is what I would like. I would let Jamstix especially on snare and hat have separate variable velocity slider settings i.e. 110 to 127 range or adjustable 95 to 105. You have the right idea setting the floor with the min and the ceiling with the max sliders... But when I use the midi out out only into cubase and bfd running as a sound module, jamstix will not auto vary the velocity in the jam tab under control. I have played with it all day, I can reduce the velocity but the range sliders do not function for me. Maybe I am missing something. I think it would be cool to be able to add the ride manually over on top of a groove to manually place a ride over it during a jam. I see there is a cymbal section but the hat "always ride" box doesn't work because a drummer can still use the foot on the hat. Cool program I like the manual jam best.

If you look at the rhythm tab, snare and hihat panels have their own velocity variance sliders.

Also would like to know if you plan on allowing a manual ride section. I like the base grove and would like to manually place a ride over it during a jam. I see there is a cymbal section but the hat always ride doesn't work because you can still use the foot on the hat. |
What exactly do you need that the hihat panel doesn't allow you to do? Also, please note the autofoot controller for HH foot usage during ride play. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Cool I see that it says variance, did not know that controls velocity... also it would still be cool to be able to set it within a range. The ride cymbal option would be cool to have separate from the hat selections. Would be cool to have the same flexibility as the tome section for the ride, especially for programing manual parts. Thanks for a cool program |
