Freezing Rendering Jamstix 4 Tracks To Audio.. Reaper.

Hi I have been rendering individual Jamstix 4 tracks to audio in Reaper by recording the output on each track in real time.
Is there an easier/faster way to do this?.

I watched Kenny Gioias video on freezing tracks but when I tried it with Jamstix 4, I got no audio on the tracks.
What am I doing wrong?
Anyone got any ideas?

Choose all of your Jamstix tracks in the Arrange view.

Under the File>Render menu,

Source: Stems (selected tracks)
Bounds: Entire Project
Options: Full-speed Offline

That's about as fast as it can get.

Cheers I will give that a try. I can't seem to get the freeze tracks to do anything. I know it is related to rendering but I don't really understand how they interconnect.

Hey Andy,
I just watched Kenny's video. For freezing to work the way he does it, you would have to have a separate occurrence of Jamstix on every track. If you set Jamstix' output routing to a single output, then it will work on the track containing Jamstix. It will not work if you want each kit piece on separate tracks with Jamstix on only one track.
I misunderstood what you were originally asking.

I didn't watch Kenny's video.

Here's what I do.

Add JS on one track

Create the song

Make sure Downmix in the Mixer window in JS is not highlighted (disabled)

Setup the routing by selecting JS in the FX window of the track. Then under Options, choose "Build Multichannel Output for Routing...."

Now if you click a kit piece in JS, you should see the track meter change so you know what to call the individual tracks.

Also look at the Routing in JS Mixer and in each Reaper track to confirm that you have it right.

Once you are done, save these tracks as a Template so you can import this setup into future projects.

There a few ways to render. I usually select the drum tracks, right-click then render. Or sometimes if I decide to make a change to the original song, I go back to the original tracks which get muted once rendered, solo/unmute/whatever you want there, make the change to the JS song, select the section where the change was made then hit ? to go to Actions, then find the Render Selected Area of Tracks.... If you render the second way then you have do some minor editing to the rendered to tracks to add the change.

I end up with # stereo tracks. I then select the tracks that I want to be Mono like the kick(s), snare, hi hat... , right-click to get to Item Settings. From there, select Take Channel Mode: Mono (downmix)

BTW, I do not do either rendering much anymore since I built my new PC. I just leave JS as is and add whatever processing I want to the individual tracks since my CPU can handle it.

In Reaper I generally choose insert virtual instrument on new track and let Reaper configure the multi outs automatically.
That gives me one track with Jamstix on it and then the kick, share, etc all on their own tracks, labelled Jamstix out 1- 2 - 3 - 4 etc...
I will try your method and see what happens. The way I was doing it, I could render the tracks but not actually freeze, them.
I couldn't figure out why I could do one and not the other...

How does Reaper configure the multi outs automatically? I only know how to do it using the Options>Build Multichannel way that I mentioned.

It would be cool if I can do it in less steps.
