Ralph, I have been working with Jamstix on a number of projects and updated the dll to X5-6 today (I was using X5-2 before) and on all projects now, including a new one I created to test with, Jamstix does not sync with the host (Cubase SX 3.1). In the arrangement window the indicator remains on bar 1.

I have checked that Use Arrangement is 'ticked', that mute brain is not on, etc and that I have a standard Jamstix mapping for internal drums but the bottom line is that Jamstix is not moving with the host at all. I put back the dll for X5-2 and the problem is still there. I have not changed anything on my system other than the dll for jamstix X5-6 and the new AudioM8 version, which I am not using in these projects.

I have just loaded a previous completed song that I had output the jamstix midi to and made small modifications to it before letting that midi drive the jamstix sounds. This song, even with mute brain, is not working - ie. being triggered by midi events.

Midi data is coming into the jamsitx as the little red indicator at the top left of the jamstix window is flashing with the beat of the midi data. But Jamstix is not playing along. It also looks at though the arrangement is all dull coloured - ie. my fills that are locked should be bright yellow and they are all dull yellow.

Just for info, I have just checked other VSTi plugins (Trilogy and dfhS) and they are working as expected, although I guess they are just triggered and do not to keep sync with Cubase in the same way.

Ok - not sure what is going on, but I opened a new project and decided to see if I could audition the sounds to see if they were working - I auditioned a couple and they sounded as expected, I then pressed play in Cubase and Jamstix started syncing as expected. I opened each of the other previous projects that I had tried and they are all now working as expected. Definitely strange.

I had not closed Cubase or rebooted PC or anything before it started working, the only action I tried was to audition the sounds - may be that it was coincidence.....can you shed any light on what would cause Jamstix not to sync like this and then start syncing again with out changing anything?

I have just updated to X5-7 by overwriting the previous Jamstix dll file and the same thing has happened as before.

I have a project I was working on yesterday were I have taken the midi output from Jamstix and it is in the mode of play input and mute brain to play the midi, and today having applied X5-7 Jamstix is nolonger syncing with Cubase and also no sounds are being heard even if I audition them. Even the metronome does not work if activated. I have tried soloing the midi channels and the jamstix channels but basically Jamstix is not outputing any audio.

There is midi coming into Jamstix as before, with the little red light flickering with the midi data, but the meters on the output panel and not showing any output and Cubase is not receiving any output

This is a little annoying to say the least.

There was a data alignment problem in the X5 betas that has been fixed in X5-7. If you load a project saved with 1.3 it should load fine with X5-7. Your issue may stem from the project being saved with a X5 beta in between.

Did you try loading X5-7 into a new project the way you did with X5-6?
If all fails, please try this:

• Install X5-2 beta, create new Cubase project and ensure Jamstix works fine there
  
• Load all X5-2 saved projects, in each use disc icon and 'Save Arrangement' option in arranger to save the arrangement to disk.
  
• Save a copy of each project with Jamstix removed from VST rack
  
• Repeat the above steps with the X5-6 beta and projects saved with that version
  
• Install X5-7 and load into a new project, make sure it works fine
  
• Load project copies w/o Jamstix and add X5-7 to them then use 'Load Arrangement' to get the song data back.

Ralph, I did try a new project and the result was the same - ie it did not work, so do not think it is related to previous saved options. I closed and opened Cubase and nothing helped. Then I copied the Jamstix.dll for the X5-7 to the copy of the Jamstix.dll in the vstplugins folder (ie. there is one jamstix.dll in the vstplugins\jamstix and one in vstplugins. I opened cubase and it appeared to work - not sure again if this is coincidence.

Just to be clear, the one in vstplugins\jamstix is the one that is used - I believe the other one was placed in vstplugins as part of one of the releases - hence there are 2 dlls.

That is all very odd. What happens if you rename the copy in the vstplugins folder?

DAW is out of action at the moment - had a fault with a memory module yesterday and needed to order online for a replacement. Will check mid week when DAW is back.

this has happened to me, too, starting with JS 1.3.
JS doesn't start running with SX and doesn't output any sound.
No apparent reason, happens in old or new projects, but quite rare.
Restarting SX fixes the problem.
Not a big problem for me, just wanted to let you know.

Yesterday I also had a problem with Audiom8 not correcting PDC no more, after playing around a bit I removed Audiom8 and inserted a new one on another audio track - then it worked again.
Strange - can this be SX 3.1 related ?

Quad, please verify your audiom8 version in the top right corner of the audioM8 GUI.
