| Not bad news for OSX, if you've been in the Jamstix universe for any length of time. It's just another delay. Ralph is doing all he can but there is only so much he can do. It'll happen, keep the faith. |

Ok, glad to hear this..
Since Ralph mentioned problems with the compiler (that I know for experience in the past are sometimes solved only in the long term) I was worrying...
Never lost the faith
I have just a bit of envy for the windows users...
but... isn't there any rough estimate? |

| I don't know if this is already somehow possible, but I have one major thing on wishlist. I absolutely love the linking of same parts and it saves a lot of time when making changes, but I would like to automatically have different fill on every versions of same the parts. Or at least that it would be easy to just recompose it, now it change the fill to all parts when I make some changes to fill. |

You can do that but not automatically. After you get all of your song parts how you want them:
1) Switch to the Fill window
2) In the Song Sheet Song menu>Global Actions>Locking>Lock All Parts.
3) Unlink all song parts.
4) Click the first Red/Orange bar in the Timeline you want to change the fill in.
5) Click the Red Lock icon to Unlock the fill bar.
6) Click the Recompose button (or Shift+C).
7) Click the Red Lock icon to re-lock the fill bar.
Repeat for all the fills you want to change |

Thank you a lot, a_zimuth! I'll use that indeed!
Another thing came to my mind considering the same thing that I actually hadn't been thinking before. If I use the link, is the part excactly the same? I've always liked to use those random elements and it's been nice for creating some variation between parts and bars, automatically. Ok, it works well anyways for making variation inside the part, but it would have been nice to have these kind of things keep variating between parts also (I mean the feel thing: hihat vary, snare vary, power vary, pocket etc.). In previous version I usually made a small change in these values between parts for just bringing some small different for making it more lively. By the way, for me that feel element is just something that is maybe greatest in Jamstix (it really does amazing things and makes the sample plug-in to play different samples). Actually this could be amazing plug-in in itself to have something like this making any midi clip more alive...
Anyways, this is not a big issue, I can go back to old way of copying the part, make some little variation and not linking, it was not that difficult ever.
But as a summary, it still would be great to have the link feature with possibility to have different fills and different feel! And maybe different part power as well. Can live without it easily, but wink wink... |

I had run up against the linked parts being identical back during the beta testing phase and inquired with Ralph about it. He told me that the parts had to be identical due to their being linked. So it's probably safe to assume there is no way to change that.
The method I posted in my previous reply has worked really well for me and is very fast once it becomes habit. An added benefit is that once the parts are unlinked, all parameters can be independently modified. |
