Hello,

I'm trying to use Jamstix 4 to send midi only to Sornar where it triggers NI Drum module. I have this working with Jamstix 3, I've tried to setup 4 in the same way but can't seem to get it working - Can anyone help?

I'm just using Jamstix for midi out not drum sounds - My setup is:
Normal Mode
Enable Midi Output
midi only
kit is Rock Dry
output mapping is Abby Road, input is Jamstix
I can see the bars being written and I can see the virtual drums playing,
I just can't hear anything - Jamstix does not seem to be outputting midi to Sonar.
also - under mixer /send output to midi channels does not seem to record my selection
version: 4.0.4 64 bit on windows 10
thank You

Does the green MIDI output icon light up as the drums play?

yes - the light is going on in Jamstix, but nothing is registering in Sonar midi track level monitor

Sonar makes two tracks when inserting Jamstix:
one with both a midi icon and a keyboard together, and one that is just a midi icon. When I load my Jamstix 3 project and play, the green midi-out dot in Jamstix blinks and the track level monitor moves on the midi track in Sonar

but in my Jamstix4 project - the green midi icon blinks, but the midi track in Sonar does not show any activity

Do you have monitoring on on the Jamstix MIDI track?

yes - but in my Sonar Jamstix 3 project, on the Jamstix midi IN track - I have Jamstix 3 selected, However in my Jamstix 4 project midi IN track, Jamstix 4 is not an option - the only option is omni

The way I have been inserting Jamstix into Sornar is by going to Insert Synth, VST plugins, Jamstix, "midi source and first synth audio output"

This works for 3, maybe I need to do it differently for 4?

When you add JS4 to the SONAR project, you must check the 'Enable MIDI Output' box in the insert options. That's why JS4 is not an option on the NI MIDI track.

Thanks - that was it - not sure how I missed it. BTW: just started with 4 but I love the larger interface and the virtual kit. I'm learning to play drums and it's really nice to have a tool like the virtual kit - it's useful and fun to be able to see how certain parts are played.
