|
|
Hi ...
Could I get a quick explanation of the purpose of the check boxes in the song panel? I see they are different for the different modes of Edit, Pwr, Swing and Timing ... and Edit has the RF and TF boxes. I guess they must be some kind of activation. Is it that the parameter movements don't have any effect unless they are checked?
Also, I note that on the Pwr column, it seems that all the Verses and Choruses move together. Is there an over-ride for this behavior in case you want to build the intensity/ complexity across your song?
Or are these individual parts micro controlled somewhere else in the program?
Thanks |

If those checkboxes are cleared, the adjustment sliders are not active and have no effect.
All of the sliders move together because your song parts are linked. Either uncheck the "Link Like Parts" box when building your song or in the Song Sheet PART window, double click the song part and in the window that opens change "Linked To" to "Not Linked". |

Thank you, Ralph ...
That clears up a lot and will get me up to speed rapidly. |

Sorry, A_zmuth!
I'll try to look at the names a little more closely in the future.
What you described to unlink is a little tricky. When I double clicked the first verse I couldn't see any way to unlink anything. When I clicked on verse 2 I figured it out.
So, unlink (if you don't do it when you compose originally) is always in relation to the first instance of any song part, correct? |

A_zmuth or anyone ...
There are several options in the part dialog box that opens when you double click a part name in the Song Panel.
I can't find anything similar in the Jamstix 3 manual.
Could someone explain this dialog box for 'Reset' and 'Suppress Sound Linkage?' |

No problem buddy LOL.
Right now you can only unlink a part which is linked to the first part of that part type. Verse 2,3,4.... will always be linked to verse 1 so only verse 2,3,4... can be unlinked. Once they are all unlinked then Verse 1 is not linked to anything either. Ralph has said that there will be an "Unlink All" function in a future update. |

In the Kit window, in the Kit dropdown menu is the Midi Key & Linkage Editor. You can link a secondary instrument to another such as a Tambourine to the snare. So the Tambourine will sound every time the Snare is hit like in a lot of old Motown songs. There are a whole list of pieces you can link to something else.
The "Suppress Sound Linkage" toggle disables the linked sound for that Song Part.
As for "Reset" I'm not going to lie to you, I haven't really explored the uses for that yet. |

Page 28/29 of the manual explains all these options. Please let me know if anything is unclear after you've read it. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Alles klar. I feel like an idiot. The other day I searched for the manual and for what ever reason I ended up in a 'Library' where only the Jamstix3 manual was available. There were also some 'unsupported' drum maps available for download.
I don't know how I missed finding this JS4 Manual ... though to be honest, 'More Information' is not where I am used to finding such things. More typically they are in Support or Download menus on a home page.
Thanks. |

Sorry about the confusion. The manual is also available from the HELP menu inside of Jamstix. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
