Hi there,

First of all, I'd like to say how impressed I am by this piece of software.. It took my one hour (yesterday) to be totally overwhelmed and convinced by Jamstix. So I imediately bought it! And after having read some posts in this forum, I really appreciate the dev's way of treating their customers..!!!!

Now my problem: My sequencer of choice is Podium. Having played around with Jamstix in Podium made me stumble upon a very high cpu usage, which, what is ridiculous, rises every fourth bar to nearly 50-70%, and then quickly falls back to 25%. These spikes only occur on the "one". I can reproduce that, because slowing down the song tempo, makes this behaviour more obvious. I thought, ok, this instrument is really tough and thus needs much cpu, but I did'nt have any other plugin loaded in that arrangement.. Question

Then I tried Tracktion 2 and Cubase SX. In both programs Jamstix was very low, as far as CPU usage is concerned. That's the way, it has to run in Podium! Perhaps you have an idea what's going wrong here.. I don't want to change my sequencer, only because of the cpu usage.. Shocked

Oh, and I use an Athlon XP 3000+, 1GB RAM, 200 GB Hardrive 7200,
M-Audio Delta1010LT with Asio Driver (512 Samples), at a sample rate of 48000 and 24 Bit

Please help! Rolling Eyes

I just downloaded the latest Podium demo and ran Jamstix in it. The CPU usage did not spike (XP3000 1.5GB RAM ASIO4ALL 1.Cool but stayed around 18% +/-4%

My best guess is that this may be ASIO-related. Could you try the ASIO4ALL driver or another driver?

Ok, I tried 3 different drivers.. My soundcard's, Asio4All v2.6 and the ASIO driver of my PodXT-Live... same behaviour... always on the first beat there is a spike, with crackles in the engine's output.. What am I doing wrong?

Since this doesn't occur in T2 or SX on your machine nor in Podium on our (similar) machine, the problem is likely in your Podium configuration.

Unfortunately, we're not familiar with Podium at all so we can't give any pointers where to start looking but I'd look at audio I/O things such as buffers etc.

Ok, thanks for testing. I'll have to wait what Frits (Podium's dev) figures out!

AGAIN: Jamstix rocks!!! (v2 can be preordered here?? Smile hehe)
