Hi Alexis,
JS4 has 3 different Brain display modes, Pro, Normal & Easy. In Easy display mode most of the rarely used brain controls are hidden and presets for Style and Player are the main focus. You can also manually add a Kick, Snare & Hi Hat grid control to set the basic beat manually.

That sounds like best needs, thanks!

Will there be an install option to just install the Drum Brain portion of the program along with all the drummer? (and not install all the samples).

I imagine I'm not o the only one that uses JamStix to drive other Drum Libraries exclusively, and the extra gigs of extra space would be appreciated.

Pretty sure this is my configuration with JS3.

Yes, in the JS4 manager you will be able to skip the sound portion of the expansions.

That's excellent. One of the main things about JS3 that bothered me was that you couldn't get MIDI output without a kit selected.

great that jamstix 4 is here. will there new drum sounds and the ability to load on wav andmultisample in future JS4 relleases ?

superior drummer 3 have get support to load in multi samples

I notice the bonzo kit sound much better with builtin room reverb. maybe new kits can do with this room too

You still need to have a kit loaded but it doesn't need any sounds. Here's the easy way:

- load the 'MIDI Template Kit' from the '@Special Kits' folder
- open the output mapping list (far right of the kit toolbar)
- select the desired mapping and check all boxes, except 'Keep Percussion', then click 'Load'

You can save that kit in the @User Kits folder for future use as well.

WAV support is a possibility but not high on the wish/to-do list. There will be new sounds for JS4 next year via expansions but the new mixer and volume envelope controls in JS4 make the existing sounds/kits almost sound like brand-new ones (IMHO).

yes the eq and the layer features give lots of new sounds. the EQ work with a low and high shelf filter and freq can set. but there is no mid frequency and Q possible. often need reduce around 400 hz for basedrum or snare. maybe in JS4 can add for the mid freq band too a freq setting. Q can maybe fix at 1

i wish porkpie snare and base as in addictive drums united heavy sound

I do these things on a case by case basis. I assume there would be some initial delivery item or items along with the subscription offering. And at least some listing of possible items that might be in the pipeline. I look at it from the perspective of, "If this were the only release that saw the light of day or the only one I wound up using, would the subscription price still be worth it?' And if that wasn't quite enough, "If all these other things wound up coming along at some point in the future is that enough of a lure to take a chance?"

Something along the lines of the styles in the Bonzo Pak, only for other specialized song styles would probably be more of interest to me. I don't know, a "drummer of the month" club?

So my answer would be in that "Show me the money," vein.

I get the idea to have on every of the 8 channels have the ability to add 1 VST effect plugin. so can use own effects and store all in a jamstix preset. if need more VST effects, then a VST plugin rack can use. most other drum software have more effects as jamstix but when jamstix is able to add a VST plugin, then it is better than other. maybe VST plugin can easy add to JS ?. there are opensource VST hosts so can see how this can program

Curious if the OSX version is still on track for this quarter? That would be a real boost for me since I've cut over to the the Macbook when I'm not in the home studio room. Running in Fusion now, and that's *OK* but has its limitations.

I'm also curious. From what I've heard about the Windows version it's just making me want it more!

+1. I am using Jamstix 4 on my desktop pc and it is a thing of wonder and beauty. Absolutely stunningly easy to use, staggeringly good value. Can't wait to use it on my MacBook.

We're doing our best to get macOS to Beta but are having some issues on the compiler side that the vendor is working on.

Hi,
I have been holding breath ever since I first saw the announcement for version 4 to be released! I have owned Jamstix ever since 2014, maybe!?

Unfortunately, I had just moved from PC to Mac, but also from desktop to laptop! Oh boy! Imagining the possibilities of working with Jamstix had me dream of a somewhat "entirely" different approach to composing my stuff, and you guys had filled a huge gap in things "one should have" with your "idea"!

Unfortunately, in conjunction with my overall setup, including IKM VST's in Live 9 mostly, I never got it to run smooth enough to actually work!

Now, I setup a Mac Pro desktop . . . , and I am concerned I might develop a tumor from all the bad juices ruining through my brain while I am waiting in vain for "the release not happening" driving my insane!!!

I guess that not even having entered Beta by the end of March, we can be happy to see the release midyear(?), maybe!?

Honestly, I actually feel silly even bothering to post this, but "boy, oh boy, am I disappointed!

Sounds like trouble...
Do you have any expectation about when the compiler will be fixed?
Companies usually don't react that fast on these issues...
"Wait next release" is their usual answer.. that means a lot of time... unfortunately. Sad
