I think there should definity be an Install Option that does NOT require Internet Access.

a) There may NOT be Internet Access on the target Computer

b) It should be possible to Install Jamstix on a future Computer
even if Rayzoon is offline for some reason

c) Jamstix should NOT use effectively use Challenge/Response
which can be catastrophic for customers in the future

I started with Jamstix 1 and being able to install from my backed up setups on a new computer, safely, without connecting to the Internet, was a major reason I purchased Jamstix instead of the cumbersome alternatives.

Ralph has already stated that Rayzoon is investigating a way to allow downloading to a different computer that does have net access.

I noticed that.

I was just saying that to me it is quite important for the reasons listed.

Investigating in theory could mean dropping the possibility, so I wanted to say that it is a really worthwhile thing to deliver on. Very Happy

Considering that Jamstix Manager is one of the Prime features of JS4 I'm sure that Ralph is going to ensure that it satisfies as many peoples needs as is Humanly possible. He's always been a man of his word since I've been using JS.

Oh, and welcome to the forum also.

You'll be able to do it right away with JS4 but you'll have to install on the Internet computer, move the Jamstix 4 folder to the target machine and manually place the plugin DLL in the DAW search path. What we working on post-release is to add a special function to the installer so it packages an off-line install folder that you can move to the target computer and install from there normally.

Thanks Ralph Laughing

I'm looking at making J4 my go to drum VST so this makes that choice pretty definite.

Having used J1, J2 and J3, I am really happy with J4 so far. I know 3D is eye candy, but I find it really excellent and an addition that was really worthwhile.

1) If Upgrade from JS3 Studio to JS4 "studio" is $49 count me in on 30th or when ever its ready

2) back to subscription, given what you explained a few posts back I might go from a "no" to high "possible" - once details are known.

suggest that to get more bites on a subscription the details should included something very similar to way CW Sonar did it: e.g., "at least N new add-on drummers/paks/styles, etc. per year (averaged one no less than every two months) "

Yes, you have JS3 Studio so the $49 upgrade will give you JS4 Studio.

In general, I'm not a fan of subscriptions. But the type Ralph describes is an exception, and I favor that. If there were "2018 Extras Edition", "2019 Extras Edition", etc. that came with a defined item or two, and whatever Ralph chose to add during the year, that would be a worthwhile purchase -- and effectively be a subscription.

BTW, for the record -- I couldn't care less about the windows version. If you have a Mac version for beta testing, my (very few) free hours would welcome the testing opportunity. [Noticed that windows kept wasting my time over ASIO drivers, which USB device was which, one-input-at-a-time setups, etc., etc.; but Mac lets me focus on music and not continuous computer configurations... YMMV, but that's the root of the strongly held opinion I've formed.]

Ralph -- when can I send you money for a Mac version, and start playing around with it, and receiving the usual updates? If a pre-purchase/update started with betas, that would be okay. Almost subscriptiony, that way... Smile

Will there be an install option to just install the Drum Brain portion of the program along with all the drummer? (and not install all the samples).

I imagine I'm not o the only one that uses JamStix to drive other Drum Libraries exclusively, and the extra gigs of extra space would be appreciated.

Pretty sure this is my configuration with JS3.

Yes, in the JS4 manager you will be able to skip the sound portion of the expansions.

Question for the beta testers (and Ralph of course) -

Will JS4 be "easier to use" than JS3?

Maybe some kind of "EZ Mode"?

Thanks -

Hi Alexis,
JS4 has 3 different Brain display modes, Pro, Normal & Easy. In Easy display mode most of the rarely used brain controls are hidden and presets for Style and Player are the main focus. You can also manually add a Kick, Snare & Hi Hat grid control to set the basic beat manually.
