Running the latest Beta in protools 12.5 - so far so good...

Since upgrading I cannot recall if this is a new problem, or was there before, or indeed is not a problem at all...

Basically, where is the scroll on either the small numbered circles that denote each bar of a part (1) (2) (3) (4) etc (the time line) ... and the scroll on the bar editor? These were available in JS 3.6? The only way to move them say to the beginning is to move with the host DAW. However, after a performance has been created it would be nice to scroll in and look at certain features. Am I missing something...

Also, this is going to sound like a really novice question, but I will ask anyway. Clearly the whole point of JS is to produce realistic grooves using the brain. I also know that you can use settings such as swing and timing etc to add further variation. However, what I would like to know, is that when creating a default performance, is each beat (from each hand and foot etc) absolutely on the grid the whole time? Clearly visually they are on the grid (that makes sense), but from a default performance made for the first time with no timing / swing alterations, is the whole performance supposed to be quantised? Clearly if you were to record a real drummer and examined the performance you would clearly see that randomly hits would not be exactly on the line all the time....

(edited to add... I know that in the brain there are general settings for each style and drummer which will effect how they play - and so perhaps my question is not relevant, in that the actual "sound" of the performance shows that they are not clearly playing totally to grid. I guess I should export the performance as midi and I would see - would I not !??!! )

Thanks

Mark

Use the mouse-wheel to scroll the timeline

There never was a scroll on that. Bar editor always shows one full bar.

Each note has a timing offset, which the brain sets based on the 'Feel' settings of the drummer model. You can see it on the timing knob and also graphically as a line on each note in the bar editor. It will also be visible in a MIDI export.

Yo! Just got around to writing to say... I use a keyboard with a built in mouse and no wheel..... , do not generally use a separate mouse with wheel. Perhaps a work around is needed, or indeed some other way of moving... ?

No problem. Next Beta will support using left and right keys to move by 1 bar or 4 bars if CTRL key is held.
