Pricing for full versions and upgrades is the same as for Jamstix 3.

So, $49 for js3->js4 upgrade?

Any other costs associated with js4 assuming I own all of the js3 ad-paks.

No other costs. You own JS3 Studio so the $49 upgrade gives you Jamstix 4 Studio.

The big question I have is what new styles and drummers have been added and which will be seen as part of the release and which post-release?

No new styles but three new drummer models will arrive after the release: Dylan, Chris and Gavin.

It would be cool if there was a drummer called 'Reni' (Alan Wren from The Stone Roses).
This is how he plays:

Pay for upgrades yes, subscription model no. My one experience with a subscription was very bad, with the product effectively crippled once I stopped paying. The problem is that the terms can be changed over the course of the subscription, and you can either take them or leave them, no negotiation. Not saying Ralph would do that, but it does happen. I can't see any advantage for customers in software subscription models; if you want to spread the cost, just open a savings account.

I personally have no problem with the subscription idea the way that Ralph has proposed it. As Ralph has stated, it is completely optional and in no way affects Jamstix or its expansions. Canceling doesn't disable any items that were added while subscribed. I don't see any down side to it if someone is interested. Just my opinion.

Gary Novak?
Can anybody with Jamstix 4 confirm?

Will I be able to make my own drummer?

IOW, using a blank drummer style, will I be able to customize this drummer to my own feel/groves?

I'm not a fan of subscriptions.

The only rational I see from a user perspective would be that you get stuff earlier than "we got enough to make them an expansion" or as usual : price.

So 4$/month for 12 months=48$ but expansion with all the same stuff for 59$ on the 15th month would make subscription a bit more appealing.

I understand the steady income from subscription for the developer but "not knowing what or when extras are coming" is a big turn off for me. I would probably wait for the 15th month in my scenario to see if it's worth it and pay the additional 10$.

There's something creepy for me in the subscription model.

Somewhat, yes. In JS3 and JS4, you can use 'extract from other player' and element removal to customize a drummer and then save it as a preset.

Thanks for the reply Ray. That's what I remember about JS3 and what really got/gets me excited about using this program.

Again waiting on release date.
