|
|
On 11/30/17, Jamstix 4 (PC) will be released and usher in a new and improved installation and updating paradigm with its manager tool. Since updating Jamstix 4 will require little more than three mouse clicks, we have the following plans, post release (aside from finishing the macOS version):
1) We were unable to finalize all the new drummers and styles we had planned. They will be delivered for free in a steady trickle of updates. There will also be more presets for existing styles and drummers as well as new kit presets.
2) The 3D kit features an adjustable 'environment' or 'rooms', as one Beta tester called them. We will release additional environments for free as well.
3) We are considering an optional subscription service for hard-core fans of Jamstix, which would deliver additional models, presets etc. This would NOT affect normal upgrades and purchases. It would simply be an optional add-on for users who want a steady stream of "nice-to-have" items, such as additional presets. Let us know what you think about such an option. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Not a fan of subscriptions myself, but as long as subscription is optional and we can still buy stuff the old school way there's no problem.
Good to hear that v4 is almost here. I purchased JS3 on the 2nd December 2015, free upgrade to JS4 still happening? |

I would never do any subscription, but as long as its optional and you see a market for this....
By the way: I know it is a busy time for you but whats about a black friday sale ? Would be good time for "introductory"/presale and for me good point to fill up the arsenal for the jamstix 4 now .
Should fit good with release date on 30.11, so tension is raising from sale to release.
I have no problem with kits and styles arriving one after another, the great new jamstix 4 manager should give the possibilities to update thinks painless.
EDIT: Have overseen the post about holiday sale, so that black friday sale is nonsense, sorry for that |

Hi -
1) Will users be able to have a choice of opening projects in JS3 vs. JS4 in the same DAW?
2) What will the purchase price for JS4 be?
Thanks! _________________ Alexis

| JS3 and JS4 can coexist on the system but I wouldn't recommend loading both in a project. Projects saved with JS3 open with JS3, those saved with JS4 open with JS4. However, you can save an arrangement in JS3 and load it in JS4 for easy transfer of a project.

Pricing for full versions and upgrades is the same as for Jamstix 3. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Not a big fan of the Subscription model at all.
Unless there is someway to end up with a paid product (that can be used without a subscription) after a certain period of time. Example is CW Sonar.
I believe I am eligible for the free upgrade from 3 to 4. But I do understand the need for the business to carry on and make a profit. I would be willing to pay a upgrade fee and pay for kits that will come out over time instead of a subscription. |

Yes, you are eligible for the free upgrade. I've just updated the original post to clarify that the subscription plan would NOT affect normal purchases and upgrades. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I also don't like subscriptions and I rather prefer to pay for Expansions or MiniPaks. I've been using Jamstix 4 Beta on Ableton 10 Beta and Reason 10 and apart from a small problem I get sometimes (audio slows down when you change the "Amount" knob) I am really impressed with it.
Can I ask, I know you have a new Jamstix 4 manager, is it possible to save the Zip file like it you can do in your Jamstix Personal Download Page?. I'm asking because sometimes people are not able to use the Internet.
Thanks, Richard |

The manager requires an Internet connection to function. We are looking into an offline mode where you would run the manager on a machine that has Internet and it would package everything into a folder, which you can then transfer to the offline computer for installation. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I would say that, generally, I don't like the idea of subscriptions. I would prefer a "bought and paid for" product. But the devil is in the details. I have paid roughly $250-$300 over (I think) more than six years for Jamstix products (and very happy with them, I might add). That would come to around $4 per month. I don't know what the going rate for subscriptions would be but I imagine they are more than that. Then there is the "dependency" on the continued support and development of the product which, with a bought and paid for product that works without continued authorization from the company, is not a concern.
Bottom line is that I would have to see specific details on the subscription but my gut instinct is to buy and permanently own the product. _________________ Core i7 4712QM, 16GB, Cubase 9 Pro on Windows 10. I should have been more specific in the first place. I'm NOT talking about a subscription to USE Jamstix. I'm talking about a subscription for additional content to be delivered monthly, separate from upgrades, expansions, miniPaks etc.. Also, once delivered, it is installed on your system. You can cancel the subscription and still keep any content delivered up to that day. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
