After all these years, there's still nothing else that does exactly what JS does. Everything else is purely loop-based or focused on artificial EDM beat creation.
I think it's cool that there will be a JS4 (eventually), but it's not like there are massive gaps in functionality of JS3. |

Had a priority need this morning for a Latin Bossa drum track with percussion instruments. My go to EZDrummer2 left me high and dry, (who can afford all the addons). So I remembered my old JS3 had a jamcussion set. I had not used JS3 is a long long time (I had been waiting for JS4).
Took a quick look and there was the old JS3 VSTi still sitting in my Reaper plugins. 30 minutes later I was dancing to a Bossa Nova beat. Love it when a story has a happy ending. |

A couple of Q's (I just saw the v4 announcement, barely visiting this forum):
1) We get 2 snares and two kicks, but why not two HiHats? (thing Nightwish Drum Kit)
2) Will the drum patter creation be simpler this time around? I always hated creating a patter, and then the brain messing it up
3) Will we get updated drum samples?
4) Did the EQ turn into an actual 3 band EQ with frequency selection, Q and gain now?
5) what will the upgrade price be for Studio (except 2-3 Mini paks) be? And can we talk "ETA" yet?
6) will we see a bundle price for all Mini Pak's?
I think that's about it for the time being. Thanks for answering |

I have been with Jamstix since 1,An amazing piece of software! I have been with Ableton since 4.The difference is Ableton have always put out updates. Some seriously screwing up.They because of the huge support are able to correct quickly. It is quite evident Jamstix are having many a problem updating.A lot of money is needed on any kind of of research and development.I was a beta user on 1 and 2 and saw because of this the problems faced when implementing a new improved 'software' I can only think considering how good Jamstix is.They are looking on a big leap on what is already a fine unique piece of software.I get upset at when;if people realised the amount of work that goes into developing this amazing musical ideologically. _________________ EMU 1820M user |

It is amazing software. The flip side to that coin is that people have been waiting basically 3 years now since it was announced. It was also stated that it would assuredly be released last year.
Hope the public beta is getting close, but you have to understand the context of some of the impatience at this point among some users. |

I have little experience in these matters, but I wonder how the long release delay would translate into how long it would take to fix the inevitable bugs that pop up in the future.
In other words - I wonder if the issues associated with the release delay would be expected to also affect how promptly future release bugs would be addressed, or new feature updates would be addressed, etc. _________________ Alexis

I'm hoping it actually works the other way around.
This is a VERY small operation, and I'm sure Ralph is smart enough to factor in/estimate the amount of support that will be required after release before committing, so as not to be completely overwhelmed by the support workload! |
