The first Private Beta was sent out on 12/30/16, definitely not 14 months ago. That sounds more like the internal Beta, which had no testers outside of Rayzoon. The current private Beta actually includes several users from this forum. Barring unforeseen issues, we hope to go public Beta within 6-8 weeks.

Back on topic. How is the Private Beta going? We are 13 weeks out from this email so curious what the new expectation is for Public Beta at this current state Shocked

i hope there come a status report maybe from a beta tester, and he tell what need fix to release publich beta and wy the public beta is so lots delay.

I also need no 3d drum display to rotate. that it is possible to select a drum to edit is enough for me.

Beta testers have to sign an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement). So, no beta testers are going to spill any beans on the forum, if that's what you're hoping for.

but a betatester can do a status report and show this Ralph. Ralph can read and if he think it is ok, can release. so Ralph need not spend time to write a status report.

Still working through internal Beta, dealing with issues found. As soon as we can exclude showstoppers, it will go private Beta and then public. There are TONS of changes in JS4, not just workflow improvements but also game changers like part linking. I think it will be worth the wait.

BTW, is there an estimated date for the public beta of JS4?

Once the private beta team stops finding significant showstoppers, which they are still doing...thankfully.

That seems like an awful long time to be dealing with show stoppers. It's too bad I can't help with your current situation, but after this release comes out, might I suggest you check into Agile methodologies?

I don't want to sound negative, but I just came across this in Twitter:

Rayzoon Technologies‏ @RayzoonTech 30 Nov 2015
Holiday sale has started with up to 50% off! Also, all new buyers will get a FREE upgrade to Jamstix 4 in 2016.

Rayzoon Technologies‏ @RayzoonTech 8 Dec 2014
Out holiday sale has started with up to 50% off! Also, all new Jamstix 3 buyers will get a FREE upgrade to Jamstix 4 in 2015.

Shocked

Still, I look forward to JS4 whenever it is ready. I think it is a fascinating approach and I am surprised other developers have not picked up on it (yet), now that artificial intelligence is popping up a lot in the world of music production.

Yup, development has been slow. I personally do not know what resources Rayzoon has on hand in that regard. Ralph has stated repeatedly that the upgrade offer still applies for those that qualify. I fail to see the problem.

I've been on the forum since 2010 and the development beta phase of JS3 was quite lengthy also. I'm now on the beta team for JS4 but was on your side of the fence for JS3's release. From what I have seen doing private beta testing is that for Ralph, JS is a thing that he cares deeply about on a personal level. The only other thing that he possibly cares about as much (besides family) is that his customers have an exemplary experience with his baby. Ralph listens to us like no other developer I have worked with except for one. He will set JS4 free when he feels it is ready for you to enjoy. Not just work with, but enjoy. When he does release it, if something isn't right, he will do all he can to make it so just like he did with JS3.

I'm not trying to give anyone a hard time or say you're wrong. I'm just giving my perspective on the situation, which is perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned. JS3 does everything I need and I still have not come close to exploiting its full capabilities.

Thanks for your reply, a_zimuth

Fully agree, but one is anxious. I too have very much to learn in JS3, but knowing that JS4 "is on its way", and is likely to be vastly superior, I am not sure how much effort to devote to learning JS3.

However, I did not mean to be negative nor critical. Just impatient! Wink

This is how I feel, too. If Ralph came out and said, "JS3 will be the last version," I'd still use it for years and years to come.

It's interesting that none of the bigger players in the business have really tried to compete with it--they are all still loop-based, which is very limiting.

I'm not a MAC user, but Logic developed "drummer" which is a similar concept.

As for the Jamstix 4 timeline. Yes, many of us signed up for the buy Jamstix 3 and get Jamstix 4 when it comes out promotion.

I don't think any of us expected to be waiting over 2.5 years for that to be fulfilled though.

I too buy jamstix 3 because it is anounced that jamstix 4 come shortly. If rayzoon not want sell more drums maybe they release a tool to create own drum sounds. or they can fix the soundfiles. the js3 kick i find best, when it have not the problems. see video there can hear the problems due to round robin and velocity layer. i think better is, when the round robin with the big attack click can remove and the low level kick sound can hear at 30% velocity only.

I'm still confident that sooner or later something great will pop up (and in the meanwhile I also bought also jamcussion)...

Only, would be great to have a glimpse on what the actual problems are that cause the delay in deploying the new version 4.
It it a tech matter? Or time? Developer's health (of course joking)? Insufficient funding? Need of more people in the developers team?

Things like that... Being aware of what the actual problem are could make me much more confident and tolerant about the release date...

I am afraid it will be later........

Meanwhile I think I will be happy if it is at least this year (maybe for christmas........)

OMG, what an unusual dynamic we have going on over here in this forum. All these years waiting for release of v4. What a dedicated group you all are. I will give you this, you have the patience of Job. Laughing

I'm a big fan of Rayzoon and JS V3, but you guys should get a award for hanging in there with this product all these years. You do know the world has continued to spin and drum VSTi innovations over the past years have continued to advance.

But I wish you all luck and like you, I too will continue to pop in here on occasion to marvel at what you guys have going on here.
