Ok Im finally getting to the point I want to begin to mix down my drum parts. Im using js w/ BFD hosted w/ Acid Pro 5. Im using the bfdall.dll, which loads just fine.

The problem is after I save the project, when I load it up again I get this error message:"An error occured while loading the project file. The audio plugins specified are not installed on this system. The soft-synth plug in jamstix was not found or did not load properly."
I am able to use other soft-synth plugins that I can save w/ my project that do load up without any trouble.

To work around this, Ive been loading my saved project, then loading js. Before I close my project I have to delete js, then save the rest of my project.
In other words, as long as I dont save js w/ my project, everything works fine. But because of this, I cant begin to mix my drums and save them and come back later. Id have to do it all in one sitting and then render the finished project to .wav format or whatever. Which, also works. I just think having to do it this way, first of all isnt right, and secondly is somewhat inconvient. Other than this issue, js is a great product and Im very pleased with it.
Any suggestions?

We've tested here with Acid 4 and it works fine with BFD All.

Does it work with BFD Stereo?

Does it work with non-BFD drum VSTi?

So I got it to work. I had js in the C:\Program Files\Steinberg folder. In Acid it has a vsti Plugins folder, however you can also select an alternate folder along w/ Acids Plug ins folder. I had originally set up js to be accessed via the alternate folder route. Acid was not finding it there for some reason.

So first I moved js to the C:\Program files\ VstiPlugins folder, with all my other plugins. This created additional loading problems. I then moved it back and then copied it to the C:\Program files\ VstiPlugins folder. Viola! so js is in 2 places, but its working. I guess maybe after I finish this song Ill go back and re-install it to the VSTiPlugins folder. Im not sure why Acid wasnt finding it in the alternate folder in the first place, however.

You can only have one location for the Jamstix folder (with the samples, rhythms, accents subfolders etc.) but you can have multiple copies of 'jamstix.dll' on your system. Each DLL knows where to find the data folders.

So make sure to always only copy the DLL to other plugin folders.

Ok so i removed the additional copy of js from the
program files\vstplugins folder, and then copied the jamstix.dll app to the program files\vstplugins folder, and now acid is only recognizing js as a vst effect rather than a vst instrument. This is now only allowing me to use js as a stereo output. It simply wont find js as a vst instrument no matter what I do. It still works in Acid 4, but not in Acid 5.

It seems like this should have been no big deal, and now I find myself repeating the same steps trying to figure this out. I also removed the vstsynth regedit key, like you recommended for users of acid 4. This didnt help either.
Need some help here....Think Ill go have a beer. Mad

So i went back and removed everything of js and started completely over. I did save my own arrangements I created. I Installed the demo, copied the js.dll file to the Vstplugin folder, removed the vstsynth key, and Acid 5 still sees it as a VST Effect. So I am indeed stuck at the moment

I saw a post on an NI forum about VSTi 'disappearing' in Acid 5. Someone recommended this course of action:

1) Move the dll of the NI VSTi which Acid can't find out of your VST folder.
2) Open Acid then close it.
3) Move the dll back into your VST folder.
4) Open Acid again and it 'should' show the NI VSTi in its list.

Ok Ill try that. But it does actually show up, but rather as a vst effect than a vst instrument. Audio m8 does also. But Ill try your suggestion first and get back to you.
thanks

Not sure if you already have it set up this way but try not having Jamstix at all in the Acid directories, but just point the Acid VSTi directory to the Jamstix directory.

Yes Ive done that. JS is in C:\program files\Steinberg\jamstix. I also tried moving all within the steinberg folder into C:\ program files\VST, and also moved just the copied jamstix.dll according to your suggestion.

I just dont get it cause it worked before, accept I couldnt save a project w/ js in the project. Until I created a copy of js and started moving the folders around to try and solve the "saving a project" issue I had.

Ive completely uninstalled js and re-installed it since then.

Any ideas yet? I started moving the steinberg folder all around and having acid point to it. I did have success w/ acid finding it as a vsti instrument in the recycle bin, where I have several copies of js versions Ive deleted, but it still wont find it anywhere else yet. I guess Ill keep moving it around.....it would be nice if I could just start using my software instead of spending weeks just trying to get it to work.

How does Sonar 4 do w/ js? Ive downloaded the demo version of it. Its interface is very similar to acids so it would be a fairly easy transition to make.

No other host has these VSTi 'disappearance' issues that Acid has. Jamstix works great with many hosts. We have a list at the bottom of this page http://www.rayzoon.com/jamstix_feat.html

By the way, if you have Chainer you can use it to run JS inside of Acid.

Also, are you sure you deleted the 'VSTi Synth' key in the registry?
