|
|
Hi,
I'm using Sawstudio and Harrison Mixbus 32c.
I'm trying to get superior drummer mapped with Jamstix 3. I create all the necessary steps, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to select the midi out device from Jamstix. Was their something extra that I need to install for this? I have midiyoke, which I was going to use for this, but I can't find the menu within Jamstix to select with midi device to send out to.
I tried watching all the videos I can on this, and I can't find out where the user actually selects a midi out device.
Please help |

hi buzz
i do not use Sawstudio but rather Reaper. so this may not work for you.
in reaper, i load jamstix as a vst effect on a track and in my case, either Steven Slate drums or BFD3 right after it. i do not have to change anything for MIDI channel in Jamstix.
if i wanted to change the MIDI channel and note numbers, it can be done in the kit tab. load the kit and select a kit piece. at the bottom, you should see options for KEY CHANNEL OUTPUT.

| I've never used Sawstudio but I think this should hold true for your situation. The routing from Jamstix to SD would be done within Sawstudio, there's no need for any midi outs. If SD is on the same track as Jamstix there's no routing involved at all. If they are on separate tracks, use a send to route midi from the Jamstix track to the SD track. |

I appreciate your responses.
Sawstudio is built using assembly language, so it bypasses many windows APIs. For this reason, it doesn't allow MIDI talk between VSTs within the same track, or any track altogether. Midiyoke would be used in this case in order to allow one VST to send MIDI to another. This would be the only way I can get Jamstix to work. I know Jamstix 2 had MIDI OUT option where you can select your device (I've seen it on videos, I never actually owned v2), and I was hoping Jamstix 3 had it also. |

| Jamstix 3 sends midi data out as long as "Enable Midi Output" is enabled in the Options Tab. You might have to right click in the Kit window and choose "Set All To Midi Output Only" also. Then in Sawstudio route the output from the Jamstix track to Midiyoke and then set Midiyoke as the input for your SD track. HTH |

Thanks again for your help.
It seems that this wont work with Sawstudio due to Sawstudio's limitation with MIDIout on VST plugins.
This is not an issue with Mixbus 32C though, so as long as it works with at least one of my DAWs is good enough for me. I can always import final midi back into SAWstudio. |
