hi all
i have an old track that i'd like to rework with jamstix. problem is that it was recorded at double the tempo it should have been -- i.e. 180 instead of 90. (it all started because it had complicated rhythms and i wanted my click track at double speed... it was a bit of a hack). anyway now that i've brought in jamstix, it plays at twice the speed of course, because it's following the tempo of the host. is there a way easily to make the tempo of jamstix separate so that it goes at the right speed? alternatively i can edit all my original tracks down to double tempo and then halve the host tempo, but quick experiments with that haven't been particularly successful (seem to have lost some accuracy). (cubase, btw). any thoughts anyone?

Why not make a midi file of the jamstix track, I'm sure in "logical edit" you can halve or double tempo.
Failing that, open the midi file in a new project, set the tempo you want, then make a wave file from that midi track, then import that wave file into your original project.(Would that work?)

There maybe an easier way?

You'll only lose accuracy if your PPQ is not great. See if ya can increase it to the max b4 you convert

Just set the "half-time" checkbox on the Jam tab (under "no snare ghosting"). Jamstix will play at half the speed.

thanks for the suggestions -- unfortunately exporting a midi track or audio mix down is not really suitable because what i want to be able to do is to use jamstix so that i can tweak to get exactly what i want which would take many many mixdowns and exports if i did it that way...; my ppq is set at maximum (1940 i believe) -- loss in accuracy seems to come from the way the audio and midi fit together, not sure; and the half-time checkbox only seems to be available during freejam...

We'll provide you a custom DLL that will internally halve the song position and thus the tempo.

Are you using the demo or the full Jamstix version at this time?

Use the ID and PW from your electronic delivery.

With this Build you can specify a custom tempo multiplier in the jamstix.ini file. Just add the line:

TempoMultiplier=0.5

to the [General] section.

The value is multiplied with the song position so using 0.5 will halve the tempo.

it didn´t work for me half the time, but it did work when doubling the time (TimeMultiplier=2). Didn´t check other settings yet.

By the way, what is the ´Skill´ entry in jamsti.ini means?

Just checked other settings, it seems to work only with integgers, I tried 1.5, 2.5 and nothing, but 2, 3 or 4 works fine.

Hey Ralph, it did work! But with ´0,5´ and not ´0.5´, it´s interesting because in Brazil we use the comma to write non integger numbers anyway, so it could be related to Windows settings? Let´s see how it works for others.
