So. I'm a non-guitar player, and I have this wonderful idea.

I want to use some different software to make a "self playing guitar"

Using a jamstix and IMATONE to play.

I'm not sure how the MIDI setup would work and would ask the community for help.

1.IMATONE converts anything I can hum into a midi note in realtime.
note gets put into arpeggiator in LOGIC X and turned into chord.

2.chord then goes to VST guitar instrument in DAW
3. rhythm gets strummed in realtime with jamstix.

am I dreaming?

other scenario would be:

1.cover song (eagles) loaded .midi wile in DAW with chord notation (fingering frets)
2.chord then goes to VST guitar instrument in DAW
3. rhythm gets strummed in realtime with jamstix.

this would be for playing acoustic strumming chords accompaniment.
"up down up" type things.

This would be to make a "fun" instrument to "play" live, or a way to play very difficult passages limited by only what you can hum....or download, but still retain rhythmic expression via jamstix inputing the rhythm.

In theory you do not need jamstix.

If you have a program that turns a sung note into a midi note in real time you could route that to a program like "chordz" where you program a chord to play off the note. In the program there are "delay" parameters of when each note plays, thus you could set up the strum effect.

Or you just use the output of chordz without the delay settings into AAS strum session which tries to simulate what you are suggesting.

I play guitar as my primary instrument, so have no need for it, but that is the approach I'd take.
