| I hope someone can help here. I am using Sonar X3 (64 bit) and it has behaved well with JS 3.1 (32 bit). I have upgraded to JS 3.6 (64 bit) to avoid Sonar's issues with bitbridge (I still use quite a few 32 bit VSTs and JS was one too many). I have exported to MP3 with no problems using 3.1. JS 3.6 plays fine in the DAW but is out of sync in the mix after an export to MP3. Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance. |

That's odd. Please repeat the export, then close SONAR and email me Documents\Jamstix3\rzdlog.txt _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
Thanks for the reply.
I couldn't find anything on the net or support and tried a whole range of possibilities before I first posted. However... in the meantime I decided to leave it a day and then started again... and I solved it early this morning.
I think it would be best to say how... just in case someone else hits this in the future. (It bugs me that people say "I solved it" on all manner of forums and then don't let us know what they did to solve it! )
It needed a setting in Sonar X3 to be changed! Under 'Plug in Manager' - 'VST Instruments (VSTi)' - 'Plug in Properties'.
I set the "Enable Delay Compensation" to checked and hey presto... problem solved, perfect sync exports.
Interestingly, I missed this because I have never had to use it before, because it appears to set automatically. Either it didn't get turned on, or was turned off when I overwrote the 32 bit 3.1.
I can't actually check this, because the 32 bit isn't there any longer.
But it appears (from a quick look at other VST parameters in my Sonar) that 32 bit VSTs don't seem to use it, but 64 bit do. Strange that it only seems to affect JS when exporting though. Incidentally, I have left it checked (on), and JS playback in the DAW is unaffected.
The Sonar help is noted below FYI.
Hope this helps someone some time. And a big thank you for a fantastic product and great support. I wish you a Happy Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year. Steve
SONAR HELP "Enable Delay Compensation. Usually, you will leave this check box the way you found it. SONAR contains a delay compensator, which turns on and off automatically for each individual plug-in (only a few plug-ins need it). If your plug-in needs extra time to process the audio data, the plug-in sends a message to SONAR, so it can synchronize playback time to the delayed output from the plug-in." |
