I realize this has been out for a while, but I'm just now getting to the stage where I'm building things from scratch rather than importing. Working in the Bar Editor in the current OSX version has some funny stuff going on that I wanted to check on. Just to see if it's by design or it's an issue. And if it's an issue whether it's Jamstix or an OSX thing... On Mavericks 10.9.5, BTW.
* When you go to save a bar the Finder Window appears to be restricted in terms of what you can see and do. For instance, when I open the bar save dialog I can select a Favorite or a recent place. But none of the subfolders under that selection will show up. I can create a new folder and save that bar. But if I go to save another bar and click on the same favorite from the left the folder I created won't be there. It does show up under Recent though.
* When I go back to load it and select that Favorite again the folder I created won't show up. To load, I have to select my home folder and navigate back through the tree to get to the saved bar. Not insurmountable but kind of odd.
* On the bar editor itself, the ability to change a sound seems be disabled until you've manually added at least one instrument. You can't just set the one you want to start out with if the editor is completely blank. Double click to add something and it shows up. Double click again so the editor is blank and it goes away again.
Have not actually gone back and tested the Windows version to see how consistent that is since running it in Fusion appears to introduce some latency, which actually surprises me since it's usually pretty peppy.
Thanks in advance for any insight on this. Nothing show stopper level here though.
One other thing, that was an issue on the Windows version and I can't recall now if it got fixed. When you got to import styles, the folder view on the left doesn't scroll. If you've got a directory hierarchy of any length it cuts off the location so you really can't see what you've added. At some point it might be nice to get a scroll bar, or maybe even some kind of alias mechanism where you can pick a folder and then give it a name or something.
Edited to add: And just a thought here - the bar editor is kind of small for those of us with older eyes. It might be nice to have something you could maximize since the indicators on those little bitty icons for velocity and the like are hard to see on a laptop screen. Magnifier doesn't appear to have any effect. |
