I downloaded the demo yesterday... I'm iffy on it so far. Conceptually, I think it's brilliant. I have to go through the manual and experiment, to wrap my head around it.
But little things are throwing me off. For example, the manual says, "Right-clicking on a part will let you access the [Part Menu]." On a macbook pro, where right-click is determined by ctrl-click, this doesn't work. ctrl-click brings up the midi drag & drop... so from what I can tell, there's no way to bring up the part menu, or rearrange the song parts (also right-click and drag)
I've tried various other key combinations, and they don't work.
Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. Or maybe it just doesn't work...
Another possibility I've considered is that the Demo is 3.6.0, and that it may be fixed in 3.6.1 (or higher, if there is a higher?). I've not seen release notes for 3.6.1 anywhere, so I can't confirm.
I know that people waited a long time for OS X support... so now that it's been here for a year or so, who's actually using it? Does it work smoothly for you? |

I use JS on an old Mac Pro, so I guess because I have a mouse I don't get your problems.
I've used this software since JS1 on Windows and I would not be without it.
The annoyance on Mac for me are the gui still doesn't fit quite right in a Reaper plugin window - so I try not to move it around too much. |

I spent some more time with the demo this morning and I seem to be getting the hang of it better... I see a LOT of potential in it, so despite a few interface complaints, I purchased a license for Jamstix + Jamcussion.
I'll definitely be able to work around / ignore the limitations for the time being. And Ralph seems super responsive so hopefully he'll address these small technical issues at some point.
It's the weekend so I don't expect to get my license for a couple days... but I'm really looking forward to jamming with this thing! |
