I'm getting the error message "Can not create file im.dat. Access denied.

This happens if I use the song wizard and change either the drum style to "import" or put Jamcussion style and player in "silent".

If I just open a new song and don't change anything and create a song with the wizard it works fine.

That is a permissions issue, indicated by the "access denied" in the error message. Jamstix momentarily creates that file while composing the song in C:\Users\%user name%\Documents\Jamstix3. Change the permissions for that folder, for your user account, in "Properties\Security\Edit to "Full Control".

Thanks a_zimuth but I have everybody as full control and still the error. If I open a fresh instance of Jamstix and create a song it works fine. If I change Jamcussion to silent or click the drummer style and use import to use a midi file.....once I click create song I get the error.

That is really strange then. Have you tried running Reaper as an Administrator and turned off UAC in Windows? If you have, I'd send an email to support if Ralph doesn't jump in here by tomorrow. Sorry I don't have more to offer here.

Win 8.1 / 64
JS 3.6.5 x64
Reaper 5.1

Both these folders :
c:\users\me\documents\jamstix
AND
c:\jamstix3\

Have Everybody / Full Control on them.

Now, if I just click on Wizard => Create Song, I got "Cannot create file "C:\Users\me\Documents\Jamstix3\im.dat

The result is the same if I run Reaper as an Admin or not.

In fact, sometimes running Reaper as Admin gives me a black GUI for Jamstix...

Any more ideas ?

Bad/good news:

I downloaded an older Reaper 4.78 (http://www.reaper.fm/download-old.php?ver=4x) and I was not able to get the problem at all...

I installed it as "portable" so it doesn't mess with my usual installation.

I'll keep you informed if there's a behavior that could explain why once I do even more test and A/B validation.
