Hi - I would like to use the Cubase "Freeze/Unload VSTi" function on Jamstix to lighten the burden on my computer (i5, 16 GB, 64-bit; the problem is that it takes forever to do incremental store in Cubase, I'm guessing because the JS song has many many different parts ... the Cubase VST performance meter is actually showing nice low values).

But, even though I'm using JS at that very moment, Cubase delivers a message, "Instrument is not connected ... freeze is not possible".

So - does the JS "Freeze" button also "unload"? It doesn't seem to be shortening the save times, so I'd guess not?

I wonder why Cubase would think JS is "not connected"? ...Any other suggestions please?

Thanks!

You need to create a MiDi track and route it to Jamstix. Also, create a MIDI Part and put a short note at the very beginning like a C-3 or something that won't trigger anything. Basically the Freeze function works by sending the MIDI to the instrument and "recording" the result. With no MIDI, Cubase gets confused. I guess it doesn't think an instrument can create sound without MIDI input! To be honest, I can't remember if the note is actually required but, IIRC, the MIDI Part is required and it must span the full part of the song where Jamstix is playing.

This is very cool, thank you so much, jas_lan!

[EDIT] It works!! (no note needed, just the part, which is needed). Very Happy
