Okay I just purchased and downloaded Jamstix and DirectiXer. I tryed the demo and loved it. Also I was able to run the demo using the VST 4 wrapper, But I decided to go ahead and get DirectiXer just in case.
Any words of wisdom before I get home and go to install this?
My system
P4 2 gig
1 gig RAM
40 Gig WD HD
200 Gig Segate HD
Sonar 3 PE
M-Audio Delta 1010lt
Thats the meat of it anyway. |

Yes...have fun!
Other than that: remember to install the big setup (sounds) into the same directory as the one you choose for the small setup (plugin). _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I have some words of wisdom for after you install it. If you use the BFD All outputs version, make sure you configure the outputs for Jamstix manually in DirectiXer so that the first three are stereo (Overheads, Room, PZM) and the rest are mono. You made the right choice in getting DirectiXer, because Cakewalk's VST Adapter doesn't have that feature, and leaves you with no way to get the outputs panned correctly other than using a complex bussing setup, which then prevents you from easily freezing any processing effects along with the drum tracks.
Also, now with BFD 1.5 there are actually four different versions of the BFD plugin with different output configurations, and there is only one instance of Jamstix in DirectiXer. That means that if when you customize the output configuration of Jamstix to match, say BFD All, it won't match BFD Groups, or vice versa. BFD Stereo isn't a problem, since it only uses the first stereo output. But the general idea is that it works best to choose one version of BFD to use with Jamstix, and always use that one with Jamstix. Also, though, since BFD Stereo and Groups don't have any mono outputs, you really don't need DirectiXer's output configuration feature for them, and could use Jamstix through VST Adapter in those cases.
The final thing is related to the new BFD Ultra variation in BFD 1.5. That one provides 34 outputs, but DirectiXer only provides 32. Both Ralph and myself have sent e-mails to Kirill at Tonewise to find a way to fix DirectiXer to deal with the extra outputs. There is some additional discussion about this problem in the thread for the latest beta version of Jamstix.

Oh... OK. Well, I actually have DKFHS too, and most of what I said still generally applies, except for the problems related to BFD 1.5. For DKFHS, you need to configure DirectiXer with the first ten outs as mono and the last two as stereo pairs.
Anyway, the real problem is when you have both BFD and DKFHS, and want to use them both with Jamstix, since the output configurations are completely different. |

Hi,
Just like to say [sotto voce] that I still have to load AudioM8 in the Sonar Synth Rack before I can load Jamstix 1.3
But thanks for the update -- it's really good.
I still think it's a Sonar bug because there's no such problem in Sonar 3.
(And I realise I am the only person in the world with this problem.)
(Yes, I did re-run the VST Wrapper.)
All the best,
Roger. _________________ ...ping? |

I am having one problem and it's most likely been addressed before but damned if I can find it. If it has just post a link to then correct thread please.
When I load a DKFHS preset thru Jamstix and click play in Sonar, both Sonar and Jamstix, and DKFHS crashes, they just shut down and takes me back to the desktop.

One thing it could be is if the outputs in Jamstix is not set high enough. DKFHS has 10 mono and 2 stereo outputs, but Jamstix counts everything in stereo, so that would mean you need 7 outputs configured in Jamstix. |

Sounds like not enough outputs. Make sure you run Jamstix 1.3 or a X5 beta and select 7 outputs in the mapping tab. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Well, it's suddenly behaving itself. I really don't understand; I have reset and rerun the Cakewalk VST Adapter god knows how many times since we last corresponded for a variety of reasons e.g. testing demos, installing a new synth, etc.
I was using DirectiXer in demo mode up to today. I didn't download a new version, just paid up and loaded the licence key. It promptly picked up a fault in Maudio8 that I hadn't noticed before when it was in demo mode. But the problem never was with MAudio 8, always the Jamstix dll. Now both the VST and the DXi versions work correctly as they should, without loading MAudio8 first.
The fact that the VST version works properly suggests no connection with DirectiXer anyway. But today it works and I've tried it over and over again, launching Sonar from scratch each time and I can't break it.
I'll put it down to experience. Maybe it just didn't like my T-shirt. _________________ ...ping? |

Speaking of t-shirts.I'm not one for walking around advertising certain sports companies, but when it comes to something that I think deserves shouting about well ,you know.So will there be any Jamstix or Jambace stuff to buy in the future.Just to say as well, the 1.3 update is brilliant, the improvement in the punch of the drums, for me with Battery 2, it sure is one hell of a drummer.
