First off... after a few 3am mornings... I officially love Jamstix!  I want to get to a point where the bulk of my time is spent recording musical ideas and I'm not at all interested in countless hours programming MIDI drums, so Jamstix is a real savior to me.
What I need to do now is figure out how to program Jamstix to play differently for different sections, ie verse and chorus. I can select a style, and in the arranger I can set up silent parts, intro, and fills, but how do I get it to play differently altogether in different song sections? For example, I'd like to be able to tell it to play the ride over my chorus. I'm still learning and this is not clear to me at the moment.
Can this be done directly in Jamstix? If not then I think you should consider this in a future release because its an essential feature.
I guess my question is twofold:
1)What is the best way (or any way) to arrange diffent sections where the ride is played or not?
2) I've gathered that a volume envelope in sequencing software (Sonar in my case) can be used to control Jamstix, but I've tried what I thought would work and it has not had the desired affect. It seems to ignore my envelope, so I must have something not set up properly. Can anyone clarify this procedure for me, or point me to a place where I can learn it?

Jamstix has 16 rhythm slots that you can assign to each bar in the arranger. You'd use one for the verse and a second for the chorus. You have full control over each rhythm via the rhythm tab where you can load rhythms from the library or create from scratch. Use the 'Always Ride' box to have a rhythm play the ride instead of the hats.
An alternate way is to use a MIDI automation envelope in Sonar on the 'PowerPlay' parameter and have 'Power Ride' checked in the rhythm tab. You can then force the ride with the envelope in Sonar during the chorus.
As a side tip, if you are free jamming and have therefore no control over the arranger at that time, move the Semi-Hat/Ride slider all the way to ride and adjust your input trim so that Jamstix goes to powerplay (and thus ride) when you play harder in the chorus.

The standard Sonar 'Volume' envelope on the Jamstix MIDI track does not work, yet. You can either use Sonar 'Volume' envelope(s) on the Jamstix audio output track(s) or you can use the Jamstix Gain automation parameters on the Jamstix MIDI track (MIDI->NRPN->Gain)
We will add support for CC7 (Sonar MIDI Volume) in one of the next betas to make it easier to control the volume in multi-output situations.
