Finally finished up a song using real amps/cabs/mics instead of ampsims, Jamstix was used for the midi on this song, great ap/program once I "got my head around" it...(I'm still learning about this program, but I've came a long way since I first started with it....).....
Any comments, suggestions are welcome!!!

Haven't been on site lately ...just tell you sounds great. Could have fit to Bad Company CD easily.

My main interest in this particular forum is not to critique the songs but to hear what others have done with JamSticks.
Great job setting up the drums for this song. I'm impressed.
btw... the song and recording of guitar tones is really good as well |

That was a superb production! I am not a drummer nor technical, but I admire the way you customized the drums, it takes a lot of precision editing to get them so on top of the action of the song. I've barely scratched the surface, and my tracks sound over the top unrestrained, which I like but have to concede is not what most folks like.
So I hope to take a lesson away from you and pursue a much more controlled use in the near future.
Question, what recording/mixing software are you using and do you load Jamstix into one stereo track, multiple tracks, or what? I'm using Reaper and thus far am only using one stereo track for Jamstix. |

Thanks guys....I'm the kind of guy that thinks your other instruments have to play to the drums, so I try to get all the drum programming done before I record any of the "real" tracks (I always record scratch/guide tracks to program the drums...)...
The drums on that song are Toontrack's Superior, a "Franken-Kit" made up of Avatar, Rock Solid & a few more expansions...They're all bussed out to their own track (kick, snare, hh, etc) & each track has it's own processing (compression, eq, reverb sends, etc)...
Thanks a lot, I put a lot of time into my songs & try to make 'em sound as good as possible... |

Thanks man...To be honest, I really can't remember what snare I used on that song...There's been a lot going on in my personal life since then, so everything's kinda been a blur at times...Things are getting much better though...
Again, can't remember what I used, but I do know it was a Toontrack snare, maybe one of the stock Avatar/Superior Drummer snares....
Thanks again!!! |
