|
|
Ralph - on 3.6 under Windows - when I import a SD drum groove, JS seems to output and play a straight D-1 midi note for my hi-hat notes. The hi-hat notes that are being output by the SD midi file are C#0, C3, and F-1. I am using the standard Superior NY_Allaire kit. I confirmed the kit note assignments and they also seem to be incorrect and when I change them to the correct mapping it does not change my issue. I make sure to check the EZDrummer format when I import.
Strangely enough, when I use my version of the NY_Allaire kit that allows for CC4 control of the hi-hat it works fine.
Any thoughts on this?

Jamstix assumes CC4 control for Superior so it translates hihat events accordingly. Does what JS plays sound incorrect? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph - I'm am traveling this week and not at my PC - I will check if JS plays the file correctly with internal sounds.
Is this something new? I seem to remember having the option to use CC4 or direct note translation for SD hi-hats in the past.
Also - how does JS know that I am using SD and change to using CC4 accordingly? I always thought it was based upon how you set up the hi-hat midi notes in the drum kit that you were using. I used the standard NY_Allaire kit for direct note translation and then copied that kit and changed the hi-hats to map to the note triggers to use the CC4 controls. This way I could switch between the two options based upon the kit.

Ralph - I checked and JS is incorrectly playing open hi hats when I use the internal drum sounds / kits. The hi hat notes in the SD midi file are C#0, C3, and F-1.

I've looked at the MID file and it uses three types of open hats according to my Superior mapping docs. Is that correct?
Also, we will have customizable MIDI import translation in Jamstix 4 so that you can fully customize how imported notes are translated to JS. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph - sorry - I've been traveling and am just getting back to this. Yes - the midi file is using 3 different hi-hat notes.
Also - just to clarify - the file does not play correctly with the internal drum kits and sounds.
I am importing using the EZdrummer option. Any other thoughts on this?
